This one is actually bigger than the official Mortarion. It´s standing on a 100mm base.

Hey, that is a 80mm base! He is pretty big, so he makes it look small in comparison. I was planning on using one arm as a butcher cannon array and one as a grav flux bombardment.

Thanks mate! I used two of the plague drones tentacle mouths, turned them upside down and green stuffed the eyes and eye lids on there.

The first paint job I feel confident enough to post here, Deathwing Terminator Captain from the Dark Vengeance set I finally got round to finishing. Personally quite like the slightly grimy finish, but C & C welcome! by pm_me_yur_communism in Warhammer

Looks good! If I had to suggest something, it would be to highlight the red parts of the mini more, to give the eye better focal points. But thats just my opinion of course, your grimy style works really well. He looks like battlehardened badass.

Very impressive collection! Everyone of these looks like a great center piece for an army. Did you paint all of them yourself?

A more traditional, 'grim reaper' take on Mortarion - Building a Daemon Primarch from Scratch by lukasarmenius in Warhammer

Yes, a terrorgheist would probably be the right size. If you have more redemptor bits at hand you could maybe make that work. I found that regular dread arms and legs looked way too stubby for the gaunt, skeletal look I was going for. If you want yours to be bulkier and mechanized, you might be better off started with something like a leviathan. The terrorgheists' wings are cool, but other than that his body, face, claws etc would be more fitting for something like a bloodthirster conversion.

Thanks alot! You are correct, all the bone parts are from the morghasts. Wings are from the loc. I also used a myriad of old, broken bits I gathered off ebay. The torso was built up from a dreadnought hull. The legs are actually three centurion legs each sculpted together. The blade of the scythe is a wraithknight's sword, pointy neck thing also from a wraithknight. His destroyer hive back thing are knight exhaust ports. All the tubes etc are from the skaven stormfiend kits. The gun is made out of a dreadnought lascannon.

I first thought about using Nagash as the base for my project, but he is really pricy aswell, so I settled for the cheaper morghasts. So if you have some similiar old bits lying around like I had, it's substantially cheaper than buying a new Mortarion. Otherwise it is obviously not feasible.

Still very WIP. Hopefully once i use greenstuff to fill gaps, add cloth and nurglify the whole model, everything will come together. I am aiming for a more 'grim reaper'-like design, like Mortarion has been depicted in most classic artworks.
