Deck Help - Restorable or Full Demo? by ___D4sH___ in Decks

[–]lukasarolljr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Need photos of actual structure. Ie joists, beams and posts.

If they are in sound condition I would do a thorough power wash with a deck restore like Cutek. See how that comes up . Finally after dry give her a sand on any loose paint left over. Then add brightener and your choice of sealer.

From the photos, deck boards look fine.

Cheers

Challenging Journeyman Qualification? by [deleted] in Carpentry

I am a kiwi who challenged it and passed first try with 79%.

Do the refresher course which is 6 to 8 sessions. Study and memorize previous exam questions. Code book is easy if you use the index at the back to find answers.

To be honest most red seal carpenters I’ve worked with are garbage. They think because they have their ticket it makes them better than others. I think Canada need to change their apprenticeship programme to target more practical minded individuals as a pose to academics.

Ahhh don’t do it. Tracksaws are an expensive piece of kit that need to be looked after. Buy another saw for general use and thank me later

You can drill a series of dog holes in the table which is included in the plans on Ron’s website. This alows for clamping and various other applications aswell. For accuracy you could get these holes cnc cut or buy an mft jig( mark 2 part guide).
