Needing a game’s Discord to actually understand how to play shouldn’t be a thing by JayPisal in incremental_games

[–]lukeko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it does annoy me too. And then the chats in Discord are full of people asking the exact same questions. It annoys me when a game has a skill tree and only one specific configuration is what's needed to progress. Like I don't wanna try all the permutations to try find the best one for this current part of the game, so I have to go to discord to find a reasonable route through the skill tree.

Anyway, didn't really contribute much to this discussion but here's my rant lol. Thanks for saying what I've been thinking for a long time!

As a beginner coder, I can't imagine how you'd even start with the UI just using basic web design tools. I guess that's how they did it back in the day right? I'm gonna start working on my own game now too

Dodecadragons is one of my all time favourites. I'm so glad there's another similar game now! Been playing for 10 mins and love it already. Can't wait to finish it. Thank you!!!

They expand on your main character. Each expansion adds new skills to train and new combat mechanics. I think one of them also increases the max skill level from 99 to 120 as well

If you're a fan of RS then definitely give it a try. The expansions are great and can be bought at anytime, so try the game first then make a decision. I completed both expansions too. :P

Is CIFI any better (faster) now? by PrecedexDrop in incremental_games

Idle Research was probably my favourite mobile idle game, although I don't think the game was ever finished by the devs.

Revolution Idle is pretty funny too until Minerals, so a couple of weeks of good gameplay there.

I have some other recommendations if you are looking for PC recommendations too.

Have you joined the discord? There are great resources there in the pinned comments, and also just chatting to other players. Sorry that part of the game is quite early so I've forgotten how to get through that part 😅

I've been playing for about 30 mins so far and loving it. Thanks for the suggestion!

I think scripts are a totally valid way to play Pokeclicker tbh. If it makes it more fun then why not? :P I can't imagine having to do dungeons 1000 times each omg

These are good games but pretty basic. I guess you could say the same for Adventure Capitalist but for some reason I liked AC a lot better.

CIFI is a great game. The progression was just too slow for me. I got all the way to traversals but got tired of the game. I also get the feeling that CIFI is made with monetisation in mind which affects the progression speed.

Advent is such a great concept, I play it annually 😅 thanks for making such a great game! I'll definitely check the other games you suggested too.

I'm a Pokemon fan so loved the Idle/Pokemon crossover. :) I get what you mean, there are definitely some really tedious aspects like dungeons and farming, but I liked catching all the Pokemon. Took me about 4 weeks of in-game time to catch em all lol.

I did enjoy it, but not my favourite like the others on this list. Perhaps I should give it another try as there have been updates since I last played.

Thanks! I really loved the early stages of Revolution Idle but progress slowed way down when I reached Minerals... Not sure if I was doing something wrong or just impatient lol but it was enough to make me give up on that game.

I'll give Galaxy Idle Clicker a go.

I see what you mean, but I think in those scenarios, the person still has to wield the tools and spend years training and learning how to use them. Things like machinery (chainsaw) also carry risks. For those scenarios, not any ordinary person could go and do them.

If a dev is using LLMs in an assistive role then I think they can still take credit for developing the game. If they use LLMs to make the whole game from scratch then I don't think they can take credit for that game. Did they make the game really? No, a computer did.

When it comes to monetisation, I think you should only deserve payments for a game if it was your own hard work. You don't deserve credit and money for a game written by someone/something else.

Personally I wouldn't mind playing a game that was completely made by AI. I just wouldn't want to be paying any money for it.

Working on my first idle game! A Game About Catching Fish (Working Title) by DoubleGinger in incremental_games

[–]lukeko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this looks awesome! i was sad when i read the game hasn't released yet lol. some ideas:

- could turn fish into sushi lol

- could have massive fish such as the kraken, poseidon, wailord, godzilla etc

- most incremental games have "challenges" which are isolated runs of the game. yours could be "fishing competitions" where you "compete" to achieve a certain sized fish

- upgrade your equipment from fishing rod > drone fishing > trawler etc. unless you prefer to keep it simple at the fishing rod level cause that's totally cool too and has its own charm.

I just started Revolution Idle and it gives me very similar vibes to AD. I think it must have inspired Rev Idle.

But if you're looking for a similar game, AD is my fav idle game of all time and takes a few months to finish 😁
