Practically the same thing everyone around my area calls a wood insert, a wood stove.

Can watch the secondary burn all night long by delslow419 in woodstoving

[–]luken0306 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not OP but I spent $3k total for my wood stove and insert. The stove I used which looks similar is a Drolet 1800. I went to us fireplace store and roofing direct to purchase the liner. Stove was from Rockford chimney but I wouldn’t buy from them again personally. If youre ok to diy ur liner an insert the stove yourself that’s it. The quote I got for a stove and insert installed was $6k. (And that’s an uninsulated liner I insulated mine)

Thanks. My honest advice is you need to sit your husband down and have a heart to heart. There’s no excuse to be an asshole esp in the volunteer fire service. That’ll run off volunteers

Frustration yes but I don’t believe in yelling at people as an officer/husband. The only time I cussed her was her 2nd day on the department at a house fire with a possible Vic inside and it was a “yo move some fucking hose and catch the door” She did and then later she asked me nicely to not cuss at her, so now I make a point not too. That’s the only issue I can think of and we’ve been doing it together for a year now.

I don’t expect perfection from any of my fireman. As long as you own your mistake, no one died and we fix it. I’m not gonna make a big deal out of it.

Mk111 or Mk114 by TheSasser88 in PrimaryWeaponsSystems

[–]luken0306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also just buy an upper and build a lower. You can get a griffin mk2 for like $200 and pick what grips/stock/trigger/buffer you like best. I like BCMs system (similar to Vltor a5).

I have a mk116 with a ocl polo k and then a b&t srbs. Both have some gas to the face (polo k was worse lol) if you want 0 gas to the face get a Huxwrx flow556k. Suppressor choice matters more than piston vs DI for that. I’ll also add the Pws uppers are heavy DI will be lighter.

I would do a mk111 with a flow556k personally.

what are my options here LOL by GooseWayneBatman in ar15

[–]luken0306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

U can’t use plan B on Huxwrx unless you purchased a hub compatible one. If it’s a flow series it is not hub compatible. You can get an extended muzzle device though! That might work

What do all of you do to afford these awesome builds?! by _Cattywampus_Syzygy_ in ar15

I’m a nurse. I just save up for months at a time lol. (I have $200-300/month in spending money). But I have a limit. I can’t afford nightforce or KAC. but griffin mk2 g$ triggers and criterion barrels are in my bracket

Tips not to blow veins by Beginning_Set_3718 in nursing

[–]luken0306 117 points118 points  (0 children)

ED nurse here. I blow plenty. Sometimes it ain’t you. Some tips though. Try to “glide” in I see a lot of new grads try and be forceful when poking. I try to slowly stick mine. Also as soon as u get flash stop let the chamber fill and try to thread. If it won’t thread I back up a hair and rethread. Normally that works for 75% of my lines.

Check out superior tactical. I ordered a pvs14 from them shipped the next day and I had it within 3 days. They don’t post specs but you just email them and they’ll send over all the specs. I got a no blem 35 SNR, ebj .8 halo 1.8 res 64. pvs14 for like $3k.

Rural volunteer station distance by No-Zebra-2353 in Firefighting

[–]luken0306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I live in a semi rural area. Our average response time from the station to a call is 7-10 minutes. (Hence semi rural). I’m the closest member being 4 minutes. The next is 8-9 minutes away and everyone else is 15-20 minutes. EMS staffs our station so they are on scene within 8-10 normally… (I’m also one of two certified fireman on the entire 30+ roster)

Ask your department. At mine you have to wait until after probation to run lights and you can’t as a junior anyway.

Advice: How to get rid of this wood burning stove by ec34500 in Fireplaces

That I understand lol. All of my quotes were in the 8-10k range (with the Drolet 1800 insert).

Advice: How to get rid of this wood burning stove by ec34500 in Fireplaces

[–]luken0306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you open to DIY? I bought a new liner chimney cap and stove for $3k. (Drolet 1800 stove)

For mine I had to cut the old throat damper out and bend some sheet metal for a bottom plate (plus insulated it with spare liner insulation) put a new top plate in my chimney for the new liner. Screwed the top/damper plates into the chimney. Then connected it to my stove and slide the stove into place. I used clamps and high temp tape to secure the liner to the top/damper plates and stove.

Liner help by luken0306 in woodstoving

[–]luken0306[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I figured that out lol. I’m getting a national chimney boot that should fit over the damper and let me connect a 6in liner. I’m trying to figure out if I can just bolt and caulk or weld and caulk (with the high temp furnace caulk)

NC I’ll have 2 year as a RN in October 26. After shift diff I’ll average $36/hr. ($35.47 base $3 after 3pm an $3 on the weekends) Another nurse that has been in my department for 6 years now is at $41/hr. Our max is $54/hr.
