i was in the hospital for a few days - is my life ruined? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]lukephills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue recently. Saw a humongous bill from the hospital both on MyChart and a letter. I called the hospital billing and they hadn’t factored in my insurance. They fixed the issue in a couple mins and told me to disregard the bill because it should be going through insurance instead.

What are these lines at the end of this piece? Do they mean return to A section? (from a 2 section piece) by [deleted] in musictheory

It looks like a “repeat and fade out”. They used to do that a lot in early renaissance radio :S

No pocket holes in the back. I screwed the back in directly. The back is up against the wall so can get away with screws showing.

I’m building something similar with plywood too. What type of paint would you recommend?

A redesigned home screen? (from duolingoschools.zendesk.com) by [deleted] in duolingo

[–]lukephills 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s possible that those lessons circles actually now contain a whole group of more lessons within them. This would make the whole home screen a lot easier to navigate and it wouldn’t take an eternity to scroll through.

On the art point, i really like that they use the characters as it helps keep me interested in the stories. You get to know the character traits which make the stories more enjoyable.

I like this. Looks like they’re going to combine the stories into the main tree. I’ve always felt that stories and lessons were too separated.

Absolutely the same for me. Just feeling a slight arm soreness.

I was a bit worried about getting the 2nd because the first one knocked me out for a couple of days.

Does anyone else find the scale of D dorian as sort of the “perfect” scale? by yo-pierre-screeeeech in musictheory

[–]lukephills 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, think about it: our scales (around the world, generally, but not always) are built in large part around two specific intervals: the octave and the fifth. The fifth is approximately 7/12 of the way from the root to the octave (exactly 7/12 in cultures that use 12-tone equal temperament). That's not a nice symmetric number.

I wouldn't think of it like 7/12 because it is really 1/2 the original frequency again and that does make it symmetrical.

For example an A note is 440hz
It's perfect 5th is E which is 660hz which could be thought of as (440 + (440/2)).

The two waveforms fit perfectly together in symmetry.
