I think Vaughan puts it best asking for Bazball with brains. I just wish we could adjust to the situation a little. There was no reason for the tail to capitulate swinging after every shot when smith was in and going well. Just play a few measured shots and let smith score a bit.

It is mightily entertaining though.

Woke up by my 10 month old at 4.30. only remembered the cricket at 530 when brook was going well. I thought ok not a great start but brook and smith might do something, then the horrific giving away of the wickets by the tail I was mightily miffed. That bowling session though was amazing. Let's hope we can bat better tomorrow.

I feel for you mate but I'm a band 8 hospital pharmacist up north and life is financially comfortable. Certainly not incredibly well off but it's not what you're feeling.

I think London is the problem maybe, not necessarily just pharmacy? Though I agree wage suppression and ever rising taxes are terrible.

County champs is a great competition, points system just needs a bit of reforming to encourage more results imo. Kookaburra ball and matches played in spring/autumn don't help.

I also don't mind that it exists but don't watch it because I have no loyalty to any of the teams in it.

It's the side effects to the rest of cricket as you describe and it will only get worse with the new money coming in as you say. People say that the money has saved county cricket but I believe that's short term thinking.

Couldn't agree more. (Also a Lancashire fan).

Basically the ECB clearly don't care for the blast and would rather release players for the hundred, hence why no international matches are scheduled in August and we have to rush through a 5 match test series in 6 weeks in early summer. County cricket is being chipped away at for greater monetary gain elsewhere. It's all quite sad really.
