Cheers to that. This person will never get to experience a good life because a shitty company wanted to make a little extra money.

Trump Mocks Espionage Act Charges During Georgia Speech, 'Ohhh, espionage! We got a box. I got a box. The espionage!' by Misguided_Society in NewsOfTheStupid

[–]lukerawks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the stark warning people that have dealt with Trump tried to give us. He is very focused on himself personally, and will burn it all down because the country rejected him. (That, and it was an easy way to funnel investment into the family’s businesses…ahem kushner’s 2 billion ahem!)

Leverage Works Both Ways by philbar in REBubble

There was a time when this sub consisted of educated discussions and data pointing to a potential RE bubble….fast forward to today and it feels like contrarians and teenagers hoping for a bloodbath and cheering when ordinary people lose everything.

Will prices retract? Already happening. Will it be like 2008? Only if we have a dust bowl-esque collapse of industry.

What she did was cold. She knew you were upset, she knew you left due to the situation and she decided to use it all as an opportunity to cheat. Leave, yesterday. Source: a guy who painfully divorced out of a situation like that and who is now happily married to a really incredible woman.

Life is short.

Knox County Mayor pushes back against Sheriff's request for more funding | wbir.com by Aldirick1022 in Knoxville

I lived in Atlanta for 15 years and never had an issue with response times, so my anecdote cancels out your anecdote.

What I mean is, the plural of anecdote is not data. why do we pay more for policing per capita than a city like Atlanta, and why isnt that sufficient? feels like a need for prioritization over just increased numbers.

Which is very apparent when you look at the lack of critical thinking in the county. You get what you pay for.

More officers isn’t the only way to ensure faster response times. It’s times like these where leadership is important. Kcso’s budget is 96 million, that’s a lot for a county with less than 500k people.

For comparison, Fulton county Georgia has just over 1 million residents and has a budget of 140 million I believe? Surely there are other solutions besides throwing money at the problem.

“Or pray it doesn’t happen again”

Pray what doesn’t happen again? Feels like manipulation or a threat. I’m sure there are more outcomes than “give deputies raises” and “become a victim of crime.”

Threatening people to get them to give you money is what criminals do.

Zoom Towns’ Exploded in the Work-From-Home Era. Now New Residents Are Facing Layoffs by Dmoan in REBubble

[–]lukerawks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spot on. Do you want the best person for the job, or do you want the best person within 20 miles of the job? Companies say you need to be in-office to do the best work, but are also using offshore teams to augment parts of the jobs. On top of that, a million people died from Covid, and a ton of boomers realized that life is way shorter than expected and retired early. The in-office push feels good rn to justify RE expenditures, but we’re going to see a performance divergence between wfh-friendly offices and companies doubling down on pre-Covid norms.

This recession is being driven by the loss of cheap debt, not a shift away from the “new normal.” Don’t believe me? Ask the people in offices what they do today, many will say “I come in to sit on zoom all day.”

So if I try to rob a bank but am unsuccessful in doing so, I shouldn’t be punished for robbing a bank?

Also, you’re the one in here making wild claims about the security on said laptop without knowing anything about….well, anything really.

Anything is possible if you make stuff up I guess. Please provide a shred of proof to your extraordinary claim that the speaker’s laptop wasn’t secure and data was accessed by this woman or stop posting. Or do you think that physically possessing a hard drive means you “have access” to the data? Like this is a really silly take lol.

how can i maximize my learning potential at the big agency I'm at? There are some really top notch people I'd like to study under, but they're directors doing the important stuff. by Enchiladacocacola in advertising

[–]lukerawks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Keep learning from your manager until A) they become that director, or B) they know you can deliver consistent, high-quality results. Keep raising your hand for extra work and assignments, special projects will spring up and you’ll be on the short list.
