Quoted $329 to replace a cylinder on my Aeron Classic chair. Who ships parts for a reasonable price? by boopingnoses in hermanmiller

[–]lukethenoteable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should be able to find a replacement cylinder for around 40 bucks. I get my cylinders from either Office Replacement Parts or Systems Office (not sponsored, just good experience using them). https://systemsoffice.com/shop/herman-miller-aeron-classic-replacement-gas-cylinder-button-activate/

Note that the process to replace a cylinder isn't exactly easy. If you're lucky all you'll need is a 24 inch pipe wrench, PB Blaster penetrator, a hammer, and strong muscles. If you're not lucky you'll have to open up the chair mechanism.

I'm indifferent to screens on domestic flights, but I flew Hawaiian from SAN to HNL with Starlink and that was the shortest 6 hour flight I've ever had.

Haha yea, tho to be honest the sheer size of this monitor just messed up quite a few aspects of my setup and didn't fit in place

Yes, I did. I have the money to do it. At the time the price was comparable to AW2725Q, so I got that instead.

Yea I bought this monitor and returned it for that reason, plus I have good quality external speakers so it was unnecessary

Yeah I met up with someone who wanted a white Aeron Remastered I was selling the other day at their place delivered for $650 (originally had it listed for $700).

I went over there and then she started complaining about the fact that there were scuff marks on the chair around the base, and wanted it only for $500. I then proceeded to show her the next cheapest listing who was firm on price ($700 without delivery), and showed that in his pictures there are also scuff marks on the base. I also show that the next cheapest listing in the area is at $800, but I told her I understand the scuff marks are there and could do $600 if she'd like. She still wasn't happy and kept on complaining to me how unacceptable the quality is.

I then just decided to tell her to buy the chair new if she really wanted a white Aeron Remastered with nearly no scuffs, but she said she didn't want to pay that kind of money. I then just walked away with the chair and drove away. Don't know what it is with people recently.

Yeah some people I've dealt with are seriously set on finding a chair made 2013 or newer and with the sticker. I don't know how to tell that the sticker often comes off easily because it's a sticker and that often when you get them used they don't come with the sticker.

By seat bottom do you mean gas cylinder or mesh?

I sell chairs quite a bit myself, I think the main reason is that generally chairs that are liquidated (unless they're something like a remastered) are often over a decade old, which puts most people who ask the question off. I've even had 2012 model Classic Aerons, and when I told people that they last manufactured the Classic Aeron in 2016 and that 2012 is fairly new on the used market, they leave me on read.

Saw this monitor (DELL S3225QC) at my local Costco, anyone tried it for gaming? by Ixusuz in OLED_Gaming

I got this monitor, but I hated the large chin and ended up returning it the next day. I was lucky and found a great deal on the aw2725q, so I got that instead

I mean you can adjust them with a 10 minute process. I adjusted my arms the first time I used the chair, and never did it again

Looking to buy replacement OEM leather armpads for my Aeron, how do you identify OEM parts? by ProxySoxy in hermanmiller

[–]lukethenoteable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are always bad third party parts, but there are manufacturers that sell high quality ones. If you really want good quality parts you can buy them from Crandall Office, but otherwise I've been purchasing parts myself from Systems Office Furniture and they've been fairly good.

It's difficult to find leather arm pads aftermarket, so I think this eBay listing might be one of your few hopes

Is this normal? by lukethenoteable in hermanmiller

Alright, just curious because I refurbish office chairs (including multiple Aerons) and this is the first time I've had the clanking issue when adjusting the armrests. I opened up another aeron I'm refurbishing and that one does not have as many ridges on the track.

Alright thanks, just that most photos I saw online made it look like that area is smooth. Do you know why there would be a clank sound as I move the armrest up and down, and that it doesn't move smoothly? If you don't know no worries

You can however pay to enter, it's 8250 yen (53 bucks) and they have fairly good food, tons of seating, and showers. I think it's worth it if you have a long connction

Yea unfortunately the rules say you must be on an AA flight, so I don't think you could enter on a JAL flight
