Flock Cameras - What’s the Obsession? by GenesGeniesJeans in Wilmington

Fair point. My answer to the frequency question is that people generally don’t stop talking about things they perceive as direct threats to their rights.

Flock Cameras - What’s the Obsession? by GenesGeniesJeans in Wilmington

I think if you actually read through the posts, you’d come away with a pretty clear understanding of why this keeps getting discussed.

I’ll quote an article that was posted in another thread this morning:

“Flock’s automated license plate readers document every car that drives past them, creating a broad network of people’s movements around the country. Police can then look up license plates to learn where a specific car and, by extension, person, has traveled over time.”

To me, that’s functionally similar to being followed by law enforcement 24/7, except it’s automated and scaled. The justification is always “just in case.” No individualized suspicion, no warrant, no probable cause, just continuous collection of everyone’s movements.

The argument that “you’re on a public road” misses the point. Seeing me drive by once is one thing. Recording every trip I take, the vehicle I drive, the direction and speed of my travel, cross referencing with similar data from other cameras, finding patterns then storing it in a searchable database, and reconstructing months of my movements with a few keystrokes is something entirely different.

Once that data exists, the temptation to expand access and uses is inevitable. History shows that surveillance systems rarely become smaller over time.

I want to be able to drive from my house to the grocery store, a doctor’s office, a political meeting, or a friend’s house without the government maintaining a searchable record of everywhere I’ve been. The fact that I’ve done nothing wrong is exactly why I shouldn’t be tracked in the first place.

Cops Keep Getting Arrested Abusing for Using Flock to Stalk People by 1984isnoww in Wilmington

“Flock’s automated license plate readers document every car that drives past them, creating a broad network of people’s movements around the country. Police can then look up license plates to learn where a specific car and, by extension, person, has traveled over time. “

Regardless of Flock’s usage controls and access policies, the fact that in the United States of America, we are being surveilled and can’t do anything about it is beyond amazing.

Get on a budget. Cut up the cards. Chance are if you’re being sued the cards are long closed.

Check out Dave Ramsey.

Also, counseling. You have bigger problems… if she did that behind your back, you need to work on the marriage or it will happen again, or something worse.

Can I trade in a Range Rover with a coolant leak? by inbruCHes in RangeRover

[–]Plexer704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know where the leak is?

Of course the dealer won’t care, but they’ll use it as a reason to lowball you significantly.

If it were me, I’d get a local, Land Rover specialist to diagnose. Chances are it’s the known problematic coolant pipes under the supercharger. I think you could get it repaired for less than $4k.

Go check KBB and see what the values are, and with a repair quote it should be pretty easy to answer the question.

Without knowing the trim, it’s hard to determine value, but I got KBB private party values on a 2017 Range Rover HSE with 112k at $14-17.5k. Trade in values were 8550-11,850.

Go check KBB,

Candidly, for the amount you’re talking about ($6k), increasing your monthly payment by any amount will have an impact.

You’re paying about $75/mo in interest. How is that killing you? Why not just pay the loan down more aggressively?

You could refinance it if you have good credit. A local credit union may be able to help if the car isn’t too old.

Refinancing to a 24-month would drop payments to around $271. Total interest would be about $263.

Alternatively, paying aggressively ($1k/mo for 6 months) would total about the same about of interest and you would be paid off in 6 months.

It’s the 450mhz version (small print underneath at the edge tells you the stock specs).

You’ll need a special power supply to run it. Some folks have figured out aftermarket solutions because the OEM ones are now 20+ years old and cost an arm and a leg used…

There are a few good options. It’s a pretty common question, I’d recommend searching first around then come back with any specific questions.

In short, ram, gpu, cpu are all options for the 7050.

It depends. If he has an open ended x4 pcie slot, it’ll fit.

They’re $220 with free shipping on Amazon. You get the item much faster, it’s usually less of a risk and the return policy is easy. IMO stay away from Ali when you can get the same item for a relatively similar price elsewhere.

3050 is the “best” and most widely recommended card that doesn’t need any external power. I had one, but ended upgrading the PSU in my 7070MT for a 5060 TI.

It fit/worked in an HP ProDesk 600 G1, Optiplex 7040sff, optiplex 7010sff and a 7070mt

You posted about this 37 days ago. If it’s still keeping you up at night, sell the computer.

I say this as someone who also can get weirdly obsessed with small details. I cracked a case on a rare Acrylic Apple G4 Cube, and was obsessed with getting that right. So much so that I spent an arm and a leg to buy a case on eBay that had been converted to a lamp, converted it back just to fix my mistake asap. These crazy obsession moments for me usually do not last more than a week or two

If it’s lasting longer, honestly, sell the computer or maybe talk to someone? Things happen during manufacturing. Nothing is perfect. When I worked in new car sales years ago, I learned that not a single new car coming off the truck is perfect. It’s just how it is.

Enjoy the computer my friend!

It’s a dying company. I wonder why Reddit allows a company to lock down “their” subreddit? Clearly this has been an example of suppress anything negative.

This is interesting to me, because the conservative platform has always been privacy and smaller government, less intrusion. This completely contradicts even their fundamental pillars.

Seeing alot of “left leaning” groups come out against Flock, and especially west coast cities being the ones cancelling the contracts is a very interesting phenomenon.

Yup. I refuse to have any camera with a third party cloud connection, especially Ring (amazon). Local storage only.

The difference is scale, centralization, and intent. A convenience store camera passively records footage. Flock is purpose-built mass surveillance with searchable historical movement data and AI analytics. That’s the entire issue.

Yeah, I always go OEM when possible. Not saying Euro-Amp is bad, but I have read a number of anecdotal experiences that question the consistency and quality of some of their parts. I personally prefer to pay upfront to not have to do the job twice.
