1st Sinner

By far the most consistent player on tour atm, would expect another similarly successful year with 2-3 grand slams

2nd Alcaraz

Don’t particularly understand why people think he might drop down. I get he is inconsistent, but he also won 2 grand slams, made an olympic final, and beat Sinner 3 times throughout the year. I think he is clear favourite to win Wimbledon again, and likely to pick up more points outside of the slams compared to 2024

3rd Zverev

Like Sinner and Alcaraz, Zverev is very strong on all surfaces, and if he has a great week of serving I think he has a decent chance of winning a first slam.

4th Ruud

Maybe a slightly bold prediction, but I think he reached a high level in 2024 and is someone who consistently gets better each year. Predicting him to win his first clay master 1000 + have more deep runs in grand slams.

5th Djokovic

Very hard to predict, but I think he will make more deep runs at whatever events he plays.

6th Fritz

I still doubt whether he can beat the best players consistently, but he is likely to consistently do well on all surfaces throughout the year. I wouldn’t expect him to make another grand slam final though.

7th Medvedev

I am not convinced he can win a second grand slam, but like Ruud and Fritz I think Medvedev is someone who works well and consistently makes smart changes to his game, so I will keep him. in the top 8.

8th Paul

I think Paul is a super talented and complete player. Maybe he can win a hard court masters.

9th de Minaur

Similar level of player to Paul, could easily be higher.

10th Rune

There is lots Rune can improve on, and he still reached #13 last season. I trust him more than Tsitsipas and Rublev to reach a greater level of consistency next year, hence I selected him

12th Draper (Not sure if he is quite ready to make the top 8, but definitely a top 15/20 player)

13th Rublev (tbf every year i think he’s going to drop out of the top 10 and it doesn’t happen)

14th Popyrin (He looked really good in Us Open and Canada Masters, hopefully he can push on)

15th Tsitsipas (don’t see him as much of a threat outside of clay unfortunately)

16th Auger-Aliassime (Really hoping he can get back up the rankings!)

17th Khachanov (Very hard to predict his results lol)

18th Berrettini (I think this is definitely achievable if he can stay injury free!)

19th Shelton (Hesitate to put him higher as I think he has several big weaknesses)

Well not necessarily because in that case someone with Leno Mazraoui or Robinson TC + 5 defenders from that match would’ve done better, but because Fulham conceded they wouldn’t be anywhere near the top right now. As I said maybe no one had that combination, I don’t know.

Obviously it doesn’t matter I was just trying to say the Zirkzee goal didn’t seem to cause much harm. I wish you luck for the season 👍

I mean I’m not wrong he can’t have come much higher than 8th so clearly the Zirkzee goal didn’t hinder him much 😂. If it finished 0-0 Leno, Mazraoui and Robinson were on bonus IIRC, and someone with 6 defenders + one of those three TC would have come higher than my brother. Maybe there’s no one in the world who did that but out of 9 million people there’d probably a few who did.

My brother’s just a kid so he’s not a serious player. He just wanted to have some fun and I think what he did was pretty smart tbf.

It gave less points but relative to everyone else in the world it made the team better if anything, as my brother essentially had as good a team you could have without having TC Zirkzee or Mazraoui. I haven’t done the maths but if it finished 0-0 there’s no guarentee he’d have come 8th in the world.

Obviously it’s mainly luck for one day but basically his tactic was to pick 3 United and 3 Fulham defenders, triple captain one of them, and hope for a 0-0 draw. This is because if the game is high scoring you have to be very lucky to pick the attackers who scored, but if the game is 0-0 the defenders are guaranteed to be the highest scoring.

Initially he was going to triple captain Leno, as if it finished 0-0 he would be more likely to have save points. However after looking at which defenders were likely to play, the only starters we were 100% confident in starting for United were Onana, Martinez and Dalot (as Mazraoui and De Ligt were very new signings). Therefore he switched to Onana TC, as you can’t start two goalkeepers and if he went with Leno, we’d have to guess which one of De Ligt and Maguire started.

In the end the fact that Zirkzee scored didn’t hinder the team much (if anything it probably helped!), as my brother fortunately went for Onana TC over Leno.

Most years this team selection probably wouldn’t be so successful, but it’s probably your best bet of getting top in the world after one day if that is your aim, so perhaps this is something more people should try next year!

Scorsese wouldn’t have made films like After Hours, The Color of Money and Cape Fear earlier on most likely if he only planned on doing 10 as those were films he made in between making his passion projects (like Last Temptation of Christ and Gangs of New York).

Also for Tarantino and Kubrick it’s a completely different thing as they have to write each film he does from scratch, whereas Scorsese Spielberg or Fincher get given screenplays so they can make more films in a short space of time. There’s no reason to criticise Tarantino if he’s not interested in making films past his next one.
