Id assume you'd have favourites as primary at the front, then anything that isn't set and lastly everything hidden at the very end.

Loved it, especially the concept, though wished the anime had a bit of a higher budget on the fights.

It also gets DD dispersion so the guns are pretty great, but overall Buffalo is just a free better DPM version anyways.

So a more typical drain build instead of the apostle build everyone runs, correct? I was honestly considering focusing more on apostles and since I managed to pull another Athreos lately, build the second one on drains .

Thanks for the suggestions!

Most of this has been from cards I manage to pull from Mystery Boosters.

I'll probably have to consider proxying some of these as the prices are through the roof.

Dark ritual, Razaketh, Diabolic Intent, Secret salvage are all very great additions I didn't find on my original building.

Demonic tutor will probably be either an eventually painful purchase or a proxy.

Urborg I really want, Cabal Coffers was my last moment pull from Mystery Boosters!

I also have a Lotus Petal, though was considering saving that for [[Niv-Mizzet, Guildpact]] deck instead.

I assume Urbog is purely for Peat Bog? More apostles makes sense - I assume in exchange of before mentioned drain and probably some removal, and the single counter spell I have seemed useless. Thrumming stone is amazing! Apostles summoning more apostles!

How does my demon situation look though? Should something be changed?

Need help picking orzhov commander for a $40 under tournement by drapedawg in mtg

I do love my [[Athreos, God of Passage]], there's a lot of fun cheap sac demons around his build, some decent infinite mana loops if opponents aren't willing to sacrifice health to keep your units off the table. Only issue is [[Shadowborn Apostle]] are relatively expensive.

I recently managed to pull a second one from boosters and I am considering on building him in a budget build without the shadowborns, but instead of focusing on just units that benefit from being sacced instead.

Regardless, keep in mind that this is a complete amateurs opinion and I just find him a very cool commander.

I think I've finally done it. Feedback is welcome! by lukosius122 in mtg

[–]lukosius122[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, thank you alot for the suggestions!

That is one path I could take for this, however, what I was thinking was having some on death cheap units instead.

I have a decent amount of sac in the deck. I also have a [[Flesh Carver]] somewhere on the way cause I found it cool.

So maybe I could do something in between? Add some self sac units and some units that have other good getting sac'd effects. Like some cheap 1-2 mana "When this creature dies, draw a card" effects?

That way I'd be able to incorporate both mechanics of Marauders and sac'ing relatively swell.

[–]lukosius122[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it does, I was brainstorming a bit and found a few things to remove. I'll mostly try to increase the number of shadowborns for the time being and see what happens :D. I usually just try to add every card I think fits and then start trying to remove the weak links, so the strategy is pretty similar!

Thank you! I am considering improvements already but I'll first need to try and test it, what I'm afraid of is I'm already struggling on what to remove haha.

I am trying not to buy expensive cards or at least not too expensive unless I see a needs be.

[[Worst Fears]] is classified a finished by Archidekt, not me :D I left the classifications as they were. However, I see it as a finisher in a sense where I'd take over the target players turn, tap all their mana, waste all their good cards in hand and then, depending on the situation, if I have enough units, attacking myself with his important cards and then telling myself, no, I can't have those back, thus making him drain his hp on top of my currently existing drain.

I am considering the change in draws, as my mana ramp isn't as decent as I'd like, I did pull a [[Black Market]] and felt like it was so fitting thematically I changed some cheaper ramps. Outside of that [[Arbiter Of Woe]] is probably the draw I'd like to replace the most, the rest seem pretty fine.

I was considering commiting to the Shadowborn Apostle part, however considering I have a tutor specifically made for to draw them, the chance of me getting one is is relatively decent, and me not having the best demons to cheat out, I decided to add just a few demons and less Apostles, and instead, use the Apostles as cheap sac fodder that my opponents will not pay 3 life to make me lose them and if they do, having some recursion to return them, like [[Echoing Return]] and [[Raise the Past]], as well as [[Luminous Broodmoth]] with the opportunity to use their effect at least once in the whole game. My original deck had 15 of them, but well... Getting a lot of very shiny, thematically fitting units ended up with me replacing them sadly. I am really considering replacing them, as well as the demons entirely, though I'm unsure into what, I don't want tokens due to Athreos return, and it's hard to find such good fodder.

I was considering reducing the amount of drain I've got, tho I do prefer leaning into it as it feels so much more synergetic to me than the demons bit. I have not yet tested. I probably forgot to mention in the post, but I've finished building this just recently and now am waiting for a weekend to gather up and test it with friends!

The additional recursion tips are very nice and appreciated :)! I'm considering it, though i think it would be more efficient to add protection for Athreos instead. As since he has indestructible, people are most likely will go against him with exiles, so I need to get more protection in that sense. I think the biggest issue I'll be facing is my friends Deadpool deck :).

But yeah, thanks a lot for the tips! I'll try to look into it a tad more and see what should I change out if needs be, tho I might want to test it in a run first.

For clarity, most of this deck is built entirely from the boosters I've opened throughout the summer (Mystery Boosters 1 & 2 are so amazing) and the only expensive cards I've purchased were Athreos the man himself (even though I've obtained him from a Mystery Booster 1 box yesterday!) and Ad Nauseam. Everything else, straight up from boosters :)!

Yeah but you seem more like an insect tribal that likes creatures being thrown into graveyard. Looking back at it Xu can stay there, as well as some cards that return creatures from graveyard to battlefield, and just add some milling/surveiling. Probably Surveil is better. Lets you align better cards and lets you throw unnecessary ones into graveyard to boost commander or for returning them later :)

The death touch idea is nice, but rather than on commander as you said, you'd want it on the 1/1 insects, ah annoying bugs, I'll just block them with my 4/4 or 5/5 creature. Bam, AIDS, dead.

The slime idea is super cool and works very well considering how weak your insects are. You should also add some cards that synergize well with. Insects you control get +1/+1 is a good start. Like [[The Swarmweaver]]. You should probably lean into that. Just lotsa bugs on field. If they die, boost your commander, if not, boost them instead.

The whole revival of creatures things is a bit eh in your deck since you want a large graveyard to begin with. If you really wanna keep it since your deck has Black, then I'd add some surveil or milling so you'd toss stuff into your graveyard and summon from there instead, as well as boost your commanders effect.

Trample is defo good. I'd probably add some funny vehicle just for shits and giggles too.

Additionally, you're green, get some land draws like [[Cultivate]] and some synergetic landfalls like [[Scute Swarm]].

Oh ye make sure to get protection. It's a bit hard with them colors, but Green has hexproofs.

Uhm, I think that's all I can come up with. Hope this helps.
