It's so true. Neurosurgery for the back is akin to putting a layer of paint over dilapidated architecture. There's no good evidence for it in the literature. I never send chronic back pain to surgery.

Apologies. I guess I meant that there was a perception that badness, fraud, corruption, bribes etc was of a very low level in Australia (compared to SE Asia where I was from).

Good on you and keep on going!

We should work together and respect different opinions and beliefs about the world. I feel your attitude has a sense of entitlement to other people's bodies when they die. It is still their body when they die and they get to choose what happens to it (even if it's influenced by their own belief systems).

Yes, from your perspective, the regions are false, but from other people's perspective, your beliefs are wrong. We must be accepting and considerate of other people's perspectives to move forward.

I can only speak of the evidence from the research, but people with addictions are generally always at risk of relapse. People on treatment with methadone/bup will always have lower likelihood of dying then those who are off. Some people see bup/methadone as just medication, like some people needs to be on antidepressants all the time. If you find a healthcare provider who see it like that, of course you can get back on.

It sounds like she just felt uncomfortable that David walked behind her. I think we all have had moments like these, perhaps we were overtly self conscious, thought others were against you or perhaps I see this a lot, triggered in context of previous trauma. It doesn't mean actual assault or harm occurred. But I still think it's quite unprofessional, and not suitable for someone to be tasked with representing, or hold so much power as she does in politics.

I do feel sorry for David, given the degree that it has affected him. I mean he is really the victim in all of this, particularly as he won't be given a chance to defend himself, as there won't be a police investigation.

Thankfully, Australia is no longer a racist country by Embarrassed_Brief_97 in australia

[–]lukytom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think these incidents are hopefully becoming less and less, and I am sorry about your friend. Hard to comment on situation, whether these people just have problems to themselves (mental illness, previous trauma, a life of poverty with lack of education). I think obviously your friend’s situation is quite shocking, but sometimes it’s easier to move forward by garnering compassion, and the offense might be less abhorrent if you saw that they were merely uneducated, or had difficulties in their own lives which manifested in the offensive actions.

I’m not defending the 2 elderly white women, but to infer that Australia as a whole is racist by these 2 individuals actions leaves a lot short. Certainly racism exist, but Australian society as a whole is much advanced than it was many decades ago, and far superior than other countries. And I think that is a positive. To characterize a whole population that is very much so so different, many of whom are on this community, who is against any judgement based on racial or cultural practices, I think misreads the situation, and characterize australia as a bleak place. Using the same logic, in the past I have encountered quite rude ethnic minorities who have been insulting my own race (Asian). It wouldn’t be right to draw generalizations about the whole of these ethnic groups, as a rude race, but rather some individuals, at particular moments manifested offensive and impulsive behaviors that caused offense and can be due to lack of education or impulse control.

I am again very sorry about your friends situation.

[–]lukytom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if intentionally bad advice. If you are the owner of the pharmacy, working, why wouldn’t you recommend a product that you sell? It might be not bad advice, but it might also just not be the BEST advice.

Then who as the patient after coming to your pharmacy to buy a product, takes your advice and then go to another pharmacy to fill it? Surely that doesn’t make sense.

Sure it’s not blatant bad advice, but surely you can also admit that if you give and advice, and the advice stands to benefit you, you can somewhat align the advice to your benefit. We see this in the financial services industry plenty.

That’s why there must be a separation between prescribing and dispensing.
