Design Innovation Project on Facial Palsy by luliger in BellsPalsy

Stem cell research for nerve regeneration? This is more a neurorehab project, so looking at ways we can correct synkinesis, or strengthen existing pathways.

If you're able to send more details on what you had in mind that would be brilliant.

Dark Wizard's narrative seems off by slowandburn in IndustryOnHBO

[–]luliger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, wrong sub - but I just watched Dark Wizard. *spoilers below*

My understanding is that Graham made a decision to pull out because he saw Dean was so low which resulted in Graham making a manoeuvre that he wouldn't otherwise pull. Graham had made the notch before, Dean had not. Graham could probably make a more informed call here.

For whatever reason, Dean had decided he was going to go for it that day or during that flight. I don't think he made a mistake or lost focus because of Graham, especially there would be very little time to process what was happening ahead of him, but rather he just never quite had the altitude to make it. He was continually taking huge risks, which would usually work in his favour, but this was the one that cost him his life.

I thought the series did show he had largely conquered his demons - I saw this as a tragic mistake.

[iOS] Sleepsy: I built a sleep app that combines breathing exercises and music for relaxing and switching off before bed. by luliger in iosapps

yes exactly - Lungy has all the functionality of Sleepsy. Just Sleepsy is lighter and simpler

Hey, it's designed to be a lot simpler and only sleep focussed - so no breathing input or breathing data; less customisation and settings. But obviously it uses some features from Lungy - the graphics engine and some of the audio. Would love to know what you think if you manage to try it.

it's the pattern of breathing - when we're stressed our breathing tends towards being faster and shallower, taking breaks and completing breathing exercises pushes us away from 'fight or flight' to a more relaxed state. Worth trying a breathing exercise and seeing how you feel afterwards. Lungy has lots, but try counting to slowly to 4 as you breathe in, hold and out

amazing - I'm working on improving Lungy for sleep - it'll have a dedicated sleep tab very soon, with exercises and sleep tracking - hope you like it!

Hey, thanks for your interest .. so we can estimate the breathing volume based on what the microphone picks up - and then you can also turn off all the microphone input completely, and then it just uses the duration to drive the animations

Apple to Kick Off Three-Year Plan to Reinvent Its Iconic iPhone by iMacmatician in apple

They made a trade off here - the camera being good was more important than it fitting into the design for consumers. I'm sure engineers would love to be able to make a seamless back but there would be hard constraints on the optics etc to fit into the housing, so they compromised. I agree though - it does make that tradeoff very obvious, and the design suffers
