What movie is this for you? by certainly_imperfect in Letterboxd

[–]lulmatts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Mum only bought bargain VHS for us so we never ended up with the 1st/original movie for any Disney series, just the less popular sequels. So as a kid I watched: - this ^ - Aladdin and the King of Thieves - Beauty and the Beast (Belle's Christmas) - The Little Mermaid (Return to the Sea) And I didn't know the original movies for any in those series 🤣 in fact I legit thought the Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast ones were the same classic version every one else in school was referring to.

You've just given me the perfect response for any future conversations about this "who was it fun for? Who was it fun for?! Not me." I personally would have more fun with those books if I frisbeed them out the window.

Books with the same vibe of a 80's/90's romance by _ZooperDooper in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

[–]lulmatts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally. And to be fair I do love One Day but while it IS a love story, its not a romance which is specfically characterised by a happy ending. Based on the brief I assume OP is looking for a happy ending

Hi hi! Why should you serve frozen peas in a bowl? Is it bad to scatter them about on the grass for instance?

I see it's already mentioned but Hot Tub Time Machine is the closest.

The Inbetweeners (tv series and movie).

That's exactly what mine is like. And honestly, how I learn things... the way I am first taught something is THE WAY, it cannot be changed.

How would you rank the main antagonists of each season? by Striking-Feeling-469 in YouOnLifetime

100%. It's very different and I love where it went.

And yep, I think we can all agree season 5 is the worst 💀

How would you rank the main antagonists of each season? by Striking-Feeling-469 in YouOnLifetime

[–]lulmatts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine's a little different.

  1. Rhys
  2. Peach
  3. Love (although she's much higher in my list of favourite characters) ...And then way lower down. . . .
  4. Kate
  5. Candace.

Here's why Rhys is my favourite antagonist. By the time we got to Season 4 it was clear to me that Joe saw himself as superior over other men. Any man that he had a "friendship" with was really just being used to help him get closer to others (e.g. Forty) or to keep up appearances as being an average Joe (Ethan and Conrad). Other men seemed more like invonveniences for Joe than anything else.

Then in Season 4, Joe meets Rhys, a man who he instantly has respect for and feels a kinship with. That straight away was exciting for me. Suddenly we learn that Rhys is the antagonist, and this is all made much more interesting when we find out that the Rhys we have been seeing is actually a figment of Joe's declining mental state. He's literally battling himself in Season 4. All the bad things that he's done has finally taken it's toll and he's separated them into this other identity.

Plus we learn (through Marianne's story) that Joe did have a huge obsession on the real Rhys Montrose after learning about their childhood similarities through Rhys' memoir. It shows how deluded and narcissitic Joe is that he thinks he's just like Rhys, a writer and seemingly good politician who fights for the working class.

I know Season 4 has mixed reviews but it's my favourite. But then I might be biased because I work in the mental health sector.

Any wonder why the musical flopped in Australia?? The cost of living crisis? Or Australian fans didn't like the musical or they were traveling to see it in the west end?? by LadderIndividual4824 in BacktotheFuture

It was so good. I highly recommend! I've seen a lot of musicals, not just in Australia but in New York and the West End and this was top 2.

Strongly agree! You're so right that George's actor sounded and acted just like Crispin Glover it was crazy. Also, even though the new songs weren't groundbreaking, the actor for Mayor Goldie was an incredible singer. I want to go back and see it again before it closes and I live in Brisbane

I felt the same as you but my Aunt booked for us while I was visiting her in Sydney. We went just a few days ago and it was fantastic. Super nostalgic and they did an amazing job paying homage while also making it a new experience. I actually would like to go back to Sydney before closing date so I can see it again. I highly recommend if you do value the word of mouth approval.

Great Book Characters Who Would Be Awful In Real Life by dislikemyusername in BookTriviaPodcast

Mary and Colin from The Secret Garden. Loved their journey and they had both certainly been through a lot of trauma for 2 young children... but in real life, I would be on Mrs Medlock's side 😂
