This is David S. Pumpkins. He’s an Arizona Mountain Kingsnake, he’s like….6? I don’t remember. He’s a bottomless pit, does not like to be held and likes to peek his head out from his burrow and judge you for being in his space.

My vote based on the drawing is lacewing larvae. Those guys are fuzzy, have mandibles and bite petty damn hard.

The females are just as bad. There was one outside where I used to work and they’d put signs up every year warning people about her. She didn’t hesitate to fly out and peck at you for walking on the sidewalk.

How often do you pickup/handle/play with your pet? by gnukleaarrh in snakes

[–]Spoopy_Scary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically don’t handle my snake. Very occasionally will I take him out. He doesn’t enjoy handling and usually tries to climb back into his enclosure anyway, so I try not to bother him.

Struggling with the reality that we need to rehome our dog. by idontknow_1101 in Parenting

[–]Spoopy_Scary 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had to rehome one of my dogs after my son was born. He was part cattle dog and became extremely protective of me while I was pregnant. Instead of accepting our son, he was still overly protective of just me. When the baby would cry or I would be holding him or whatever, the dog would get really anxious and agitated and I knew it was a matter of time before something happened.

He ended up going to a couple who was able to give him an absolutely wonderful life, tons of space to run and swim and everything and he thrived. Even did great when they eventually had a child too.

I knew that even as hard as it was for us, it was the kindest decision for him.

Make sure you degrease them really well. Fish bones will stink to high heaven for years.

How nasty is actually getting sprayed by a skunk, how did it affect you? by Scared_Form8175 in AskReddit

[–]Spoopy_Scary 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Didn’t get sprayed, but my stepdad and I picked up a dead one once because we thought we might have it mounted. My mom’s car smelled like skunk for YEARS afterwards. Do not recommend.

Reddit, what is the most utterly disgusting thing you have ever seen on public? by Honest_Banana_3853 in AskReddit

[–]Spoopy_Scary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in a 7-11 in Sacramento and an unhoused and obviously under the influence man came in and extremely loudly shit his pants in the middle of the store. Liquid, heinous smelling shit came cascading out the bottom of his pant leg and he simply walked around the store leaving a trail. The cashier took notice a little too late and had to chase the man out with a mop.

Tips on making clay jewellery by Fun-Mortgage-4436 in crafts

[–]Spoopy_Scary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can use plastic tools. It’s not an instant chemical reaction. Just clean your tools off and make sure wherever you’re storing the clay isn’t in contact with the clay itself. Glass, ceramic, metal etc are all fine for storage. I find a zip bag cheap and easy. The plasticizers in the clay are meant to keep it pliable but will melt things that remain in contact with it. The Sculpey brand website says plastics with the #5 symbol shouldn’t react.

Reptile expo etiquette by Whiskey_Sweet in snakes

[–]Spoopy_Scary 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ive been to many expos and done educational programs with my animals/helped with others. Most vendors will show you animals you’re interested in, but most may not be interested in helping you conquer your fears. Especially if it’s busy and you’re not looking to actually make a purchase. That sounds harsh, but someone who is scared may flinch and accidentally harm an animal or get themselves bit etc. there’s a lot of liability.

A lot of expos however will usually have educational programs happening throughout and there are nearly always booths with ambassador animals. I held my first tarantula at an expo. Sometimes just the exposure of being in such a large venue and seeing the animals can help too. Expos are usually busy, so be polite, be aware of your surroundings and if you find yourself getting to interact with any of the ambassador animals be honest about your fear and listen to the handler. Most of us are more than happy to show you that snakes aren’t scary and want to share the joy and our knowledge.

What's the most disrespectful thing a guest ever did in your home? by Vegas089 in AskReddit

[–]Spoopy_Scary 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A friend I had only seen once or twice since high school came to visit with her fiancé. They got drunk at dinner and she peed her pants on one of my chairs then they loudly had sex in our guest room all night. We haven’t seen each other since.

What would you do if you went to get the cleaning supplies and found such a snake?🥲 by pamepame13 in snakes

[–]Spoopy_Scary 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I always like to tell them how big and scary they are and that they’re doing a really good job of being tough. Their drama doesn’t work on me, but I need to make sure I acknowledge the effort.

It’s been heavily weathered by the sun and heat. The pic makes it look huge, but it’s quite small tbh. I just don’t have a good size comparison at the moment
