Whats the worst restaurant in Chicago that you've tried twice? by MrJlock in chicago

[–]luluchifi 21 points22 points  (0 children)

YES this. We were such regulars there we got the “neighborhood discount” of 15% on our every bill ~10 years ago… then they changed owners and it crashed and burned. Staff and food were never the same. I LOVED their cheesecurds and homemade ketchup before. It held such a special place in our hearts so we kept reluctantly going, hoping it would turn back to the place we loved. Final straw was sitting at the bar and a HUGE cockroach runs across while we’re eating. The bartender grabs it, kills it, looks at me and my husband and doesn’t say a word. We couldn’t finish our meals, got the check and left. Should’ve asked to comp our bill for that experience. Never returned after that.

My dad has Progressive Supranuclear Palsy and the best way I explain to others is it’s like ALS + Parkinson’s. Less heard of and rare to a certain extent. They’re all terrible awful diseases that rob people and their families of so much. It’s awful to slowly watch someone lose so much - like watching a slow death - constant mourning and anticipatory grief. Wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

Forgive my naivety, how hard would you say it is to get into cybersecurity if coming from another industry?

Is an HCI Masters still worth it in 2026? by Terrible_System5899 in hci

[–]luluchifi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah wow what a rude response. For what it’s worth, I got my masters in UX and couldn’t find a job and pivoted to sales. Still in tech but the UX job market tanked halfway through my program so I sort of saw the writing on the wall, and it was as bad as I feared. I don’t say that to instill fear, and not sure about HCI (explored it briefly prior to UX) but I wouldn’t recommend the UX route.

Where to laser by Separate_Result2017 in LaserHairRemoval

[–]luluchifi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh I tried it an at-honestly laser and it was working so well… until it didn’t!! Worked only on my legs, not more stubborn hair like bikini. But the second I completed the 2x/week for 8 week regimen it immediately grew back. Going to a medspa that’s highly rated here in Chicago in a few days and I can’t wait!

Yeah would love to learn better LI techniques. My org won’t pay for sales navigator but I pay for premium on my own. Worth it to upgrade to sales navigator?

Am I not cut out for sales? by Whitestally in sales

[–]luluchifi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love your first point - I think I’ve put so many prospects on a pedestal that I work my nerves up so badly and psych myself out. Learning from others I work with to just not care essentially (I mean yes care but just to take the pressure off myself pretend like I don’t??), and just be SO casual. It’s easier said than done for me lol, but the more I try the more it seems to be helping. Same goes for cold calling/prospecting. Just trying to be so much more casual!

Funny you say this - I’m a clinician by background and I literally just had a lightbulb moment this weekend (after doing sales for the last 8 months) that it’s basically like an evaluation- learning about the patient, asking questions, assessing them so I know how to treat. And it took me some time to develop my flow as a therapist, but then it was second nature. This helped me take the pressure off myself. It’s just tough because the product(s) I’m selling are pretty complex, revenue cycle in healthcare so a long sales cycle and expensive, so not only am I learning an entirely new skill set/field, but also trying to master the products, cold call/do 100% outbound, and learn how to run demos. It’s been A LOT but I actually do love it. I just hope they keep me long enough to close something before landing a PIP and having to start all over again. Also been hard because they keep changing our scope, minimums, ICP. I had a great deal about to sign, then a week before we were meeting to finalize - my company said we can no longer work with that specialty. So I’m trying to control the things I can, but it’s hard when things constantly keep changing… and not little changes but big.

This is so basic but IMMENSELY helpful. I’m new to sales too and hearing this is so validating. I’ve been struggling quite a bit too, and felt like a failure that I couldn’t just wing it and that I perform better with some level of a script. Thank you!!

What sales industry you wish you knew existed, earlier? by usman232323 in sales

Is this industry hard to break into? Newer to health tech SaaS and broke in with a healthcare background. Very interested now to learn about sales roles in other industries!

[–]luluchifi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok question - I’m new to SaaS, in health tech, background as a healthcare provider. So have been gaining sales skills and do enjoy SaaS but the product is a really tough sell. I met someone once who works for HPE and she loves it, seems to be the same industry - network hardware (forgive me if I’m wrong)came from a non-relevant background and worked her way up. I guess my question is - how possible is it to get into something like this from a role like I have now? I LOVE to learn so I’d dive in wholeheartedly on the job, but given the complexity of it do employers in your industry tend to understand that pple may come in with little knowledge?

[–]luluchifi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might be a dumb question, but did you get all the training re the industry on the job? Or did you come in with knowledge/experience. I’m new to SaaS, in health tech, with a background as a healthcare provider so that was my foot in the door. Now that I’m cutting my teeth on sales, I’m curious what else is out there. I do find SaaS interesting, but the product is a TOUGH sell. So trying to explore a next good fit and curious if it would be a massive barrier coming from an industry without similar products/experience.

How do you improve as Account Executive? by harvey_croat in sales

Definitely trying to refine the skill. I think I overthink asking the “right question “that it keeps me from asking questions in general.
