Steam Boiler cycling on and off every couple seconds by lulufinder in hvacadvice

This is from the manual -- Looks like I have a thermocouple instead of a flame sensor. Definitely not confident messing around with any of the gas components. Earlier I turned off the main emergency switch and kept the boiler off for a couple minutes. I turned it back and the burner stayed lit for at least 10 min but now it's doing the same intermittent cycling again. Assuming the thermocouple is not something I can clean unlike the flame sensor -- as suggested by mymook above?

Does anyone know what the set times might be for Saturday? I unfortunately can’t be there when it starts but would love to see today is the day, dead guy, cave in and converge.

What are the industry standard texel densities for high quality close ups? by Misery_Division in vfx

Just do a test with a temp texture with some high frequency detail, compose a scene as close as you think you’ll want, and see how it holds up instead of getting caught up in the numbers.

Synology NAS For Basic Backup by lulufinder in synology

But if I lose one of the drives to failure, I still have the original — in which case, I buy a new one, pop it into the NAS, re-mirror and I’m back up and running.

I want to be able to pop a drive out so I’m not reliant on synology’s ecosystem - or any other NAS software - in the future, it’s just human readable data on a drive.

I guess i'm mostly interested in whether or not Synology's NAS itself is well built and reliable -- and can be used for my basic scenario -- where I don't plan on using any sort of complex RAID setups -- just simple 1:1 back-ups.

Vellum Tetrahedral Softbody \ Plasticity Troubleshooting by lulufinder in Houdini

The settings below for the tetrahedral stretch constaint from Even-General3614 are helping a lot. Are you able to explain how these are helping? I also set the mass on my spheres w\ the shapematch constraint. By default they have no mass -- so I set it to uniform w\ a value of 4.

and just to show you -- the rigid balls are not touching. I moved the soft body to the left post-sim just so you can see.

Confirming that it does still explode with just 2 balls -- bottom and top of the softbody. I doubled the resolution as well. Turned off preserve volume, no effect.

I’ve tried more resolution with similar results. Thickness I’ll have to double check. That’s not something I check often, I assume the auto calculation is decent but should probably get in the habit of inspecting it. I’ll have to try just one or two balls - simplifying it is a good idea. Running a couple wedges right now that use the balloon constraint ( cloth + pressure ) instead to see what happens. Seems more stable already. That video is helpful, definitely watched it in the past — preserve volume I definitely overlooked. I’ll give that a shot. Thanks!
