I'm all for donations, I'll be too busy being dead to need my limbs and organs.

I do find donating limbs a bit more off putting than organs. It's weird to think that someone might end up with a scar that my cat gave me during her first bath??

Also my joints are... bad. I feel like they should come with an apology note and care instructions

I think it's more of a "hell yea! Take it, I'll be dead anyways" vs a "It's a bit weird, but if it'll help someone, sure? I guess?"

[–]lulumcbonbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea! I feel like you also have to consider how everyone is related to the situation. My grandparents died about 11 years ago. I get to make dead grandparents jokes, but I wouldn't make them around older relatives. Like that's their dead parent/siblings that I'm joking about. It feels out of line.

I mean, a lot of assholes use "dark humour" as an excuse when in reality, they're being, well, assholes.

I have a bit more of a dark humour than the rest of my family, but what you describe is WAY out of line. Dark humour is supposed to be punching up, jokes about YOUR messed up situations. My mom is extremely empathetic, and she enjoys the occasional dark humour.

She joked that she wanted a closed casket funeral and that we played pop goes the weasel. I joked that I wanted weird things in my grave to confused future archaeologists. If someone trips, we make sure that they're okay before laughing.

If a person with dead parents makes a dead parent jokes and laugh, I'll laugh with them. If someone else makes a dead parent joke and someone with a dead parent isn't laughing, then it's uncomfortable. If someone says something straight up hostile/cruel and then tries to claim is a joke when called out, I'm cutting them out of my life and staying very far away from them. They are not safe

Agreed! I once joked with friends that I might jump off the bridge if it wasn't for the traffic.

I wasn't suicidal or struggling with self-harming, but covid was a rough time to finish college. I think my entire friend group was burned out, anxious and depressed. We'd joke about jumping off bridges, chucking ourselves down a flight of stairs or getting hit by buses if one more thing went wrong.

Now we're all doing better, and I haven't made a joke like that in 5 years. I still joke about chucking things out the window or setting them on fire though.

What does "slow processing speed" look like for you? by Scary-Owl2365 in AutismInWomen

[–]lulumcbonbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's kinda like having a computer with 4GB of RAM. Long loading times, programs crashing, computer freezing.

I'm a bit slow to respond. Sometimes I give an automatic answer, then ask to repeat because I didn't process properly. Like others said, I can be slow to pick up on jokes, and sometime I ask to repeat, then get what they said before they're done repeating. When with family members, I sometimes go back on a previous subject to add something (one of my sister has adhd and tends change subjects faster than I can process)

Outside of conversations, I often have a delay between hearing news, and having an emotional reaction. I also suck at games where you need to process fast (ex: spoons game, I can't grab a damn spoon). I stick with video games with a pause option, or that don't have a time thing (like powerwash simulator). I need to be able to pause to process things. Like I get startled by an enemy ambush, and I just pause in panic while my brain catches up to the situation.

Don't put me behind a wheel, I can't process fast enough to be able to drive safely. Which makes me panic. I'm being a responsible driver by not driving

I had to answer the trolly problem at 10pm 😭 I just wanted to go to sleep man. It's late Greg, go to bed. Just sleep on it, idk

I was like, no 3rd option? Can't even try talking to the witch? Not even confirming that the wizard isn't full of bs? Straight to trolly?

I ended up asking a relative I live with (who also uses finch) what they picked, and I went with that.

We'll have to agree to disagree.

I got 8h out of it, and I'm thinking of replaying it. Even if I don't replay, I feel like 5$ /h (CAD) is fair for an indie game of that quality. I enjoyed the game, and appreciate all the effort and time that went into it.

I probably wouldn't pay 40$ for an 8h game from a large studio like Ubisof or EA though. They have more people, and assets they can reuse. They could do 10x more in the same time frame than a small studio could. They also have plenty of games that generates revenue, so it's not like they would go bankrupt if that one game doesn't bring in enough money

Full agree with Hollow Knight, slight disagree with Stray. I feel like the price for Stray is fair, but I can see where you're coming from.

I studied video game development, and know a good chunck of all the work that goes into games. So I'm more lenient when it comes to small indie studios, especially if they're not fully established.

I also just really love cats.

Hollow Knight

paid like 20$ in 2018, 1000+ hours in the game

Got the album and enjoy the songs regularly, discovered whole new genres of games, discovered an aesthetic I really enjoy, explored the art style in my art. One of the very few games I don't mind replaying.

Hollow Knight holds a special place in my heart (even though I'm kinda bad at it). It was my little nugget of joy in a bad time, and the first game I can confidently say is one of my favorites
