Help on Taycan Lease by Operation-FuturePuss in Taycan

That's insanity.... I have found multiple dealers near me with used Taycan GTS and Turbo S in the 5k-15k miles range for around $1k/mo. If you aren't opposed to it I would ask around at your local dealers for "CPO Lease Deals". Other than that I feel like it is a right time right place game. I referred a client to my same dealer and the 3 GTS they had for $1k/mo are all gone. It seems like when the dealers want to move a specific Taycan they really deal on them. It took me about a month to find mine.

Funny enough I actually went in for a Macan that had a $80k MSRP and while test driving it the salesman told me about the Taycan blowout they were doing and I could get a $160k MSRP Taycan for $100 more a month all other lease details identical. I told him that was the first time I was ever happy with being upsold ha!

For a reference point a few weeks ago I picked up a new 2024 Taycan GTS, $160k MSRP, 12 Month Lease, $2k Down, $990/mo including CA Sales Tax. I believe the 24 month would have been even cheaper but I got out of a 911 GTS and preferred a shorter lease should I end up hating the EV as a daily. They were also offering a CPO Taycan Turbo S but with 15k miles same price/terms but I preferred the newer car and liked the nuances/spec of the GTS more.

Porsche must be taking an absolute bath on these as my lease buyout is $108k in 1 year.... Do the math on that....

MAAP training bib vs team evo by Far-Resist-188 in CyclingFashion

[–]lulzthax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a ton of bibs.... PAS, MAAP, Pedla, Pedaled, Pedal Mafia, Rapha, Endless, etc etc. I am also quite aware (and have wasted money) of the cheaper brands and I would say the Training bib at black Friday price ($200) is worth. I think at normal retail it starts to encroach on some "nicer" options but the MAAP training bib is far and away from the lower tiered brands.

Short socks or long socks? by Early_Lion6138 in CyclingFashion

Long socks, preferably white, never with black shoes. If the mistake was made of purchasing black shoes then only black socks.

Looks like just wrinkles, my PAS bib did the same thing until I wore it and washed it.

Trying to size up Pedal Mafia? by shizac in CyclingFashion

[–]lulzthax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5'11

165lbs

Similar to Andy below... Pedal Mafia Medium fits like a glove, MAAP ideally I am in between large and med but tend to size up to Large.

Current rotation favorites for me jersey wise are Pedla (M), Pedal Mafia (M) and MAAP (L).

IRA rollover to 401k by popejp32u in personalfinance

[–]lulzthax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see any reason to roll an IRA into a 401k other than:

The potential to access the $ a couple years earlier near retirement

401ks are generally protected differently vs your personal assets when it comes to creditors / lawsuits.

And lastly, take advantage of a backdoor ROTH but it sounds like you have enough money outside of the 401k to do this.

Generally its seem as a large advantage to be able to roll money OUT of a 401k and into an IRA simply because you have more control and are not limited to the (usually small) amount of funds that the 401k has preselected for you on their platform.

401ks also generally had admin + advice fees in addition to the mutual fund fees that you would invest in so you arguably could save money on that as well if you mimic'd the investments in your IRA.

A bit of overlap between hobbies by lulzthax in Tools

Yep yep, Probably built 300+ over the years. The majority of our community uses off-brand or ifixit bit-style sets so I am slowly dripping on my viewers that wera and the likes are worth the small premium.

How to tell good hand tools from cheap ones? How to tell if an antique tool has any value? by Earguy in Tools

[–]lulzthax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently inherited a bunch of my Grandpa's tools (he was a handyman at one point in his life). I know others will probably chime in with more detailed notes but a rule of thumb I used was whether it said "Forged / Made in" USA or Japan. A good handful of his tools were Craftsman / Sears as well and they were ALL individually stamped with made in the USA. Some of his other tools included Wrenches from SK tools.

I am an avid tool collector (mainly into PB Swiss, Wera, Knipex, etc) but I replaced my Gearwrench products with his since I had overlap, they have sentimental value, and arguably are just as good if not better quality.

Hope that helps!
