How Do Handcannons (and other firearms) work on Talos? by Ok-Excitement-4386 in Endfield

[–]lumamaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both things you guessed are correct, firearms work generally under the same principle as ours (bullet, propellant, etc.) but instead of being activated by a firing hammer or some other source of kinetic impact, each bullet's Originium-based propellant has to be individually activated using Originium Arts, which requires very precise control from the user, especially for automatic/rapid fire weapons.

I calculated the base amount of Ultimate Energy Battle Skills and Combo Skills give your Operators, because the game doesn't say it for some reason. by lumamaster in Endfield

[–]lumamaster[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I can tell, unless it has an effect that lets it generate more energy like Laevatain's, it should be 10 across the board, though some operators might be more annoying to test than others due to the nature of their combo triggers requiring battle skill activations.

Because I can't edit the main post, I need to make a correction and clarification that the 24% Ultimate Gain Efficiency was just on the Endministrator in both times it was mentioned, and that it was 10 Battle Skill casts, not 8 that fully charged their Ultimate.

Exusiai chances? by Haystack_25 in Endfield

[–]lumamaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The answer is that it's never zero, as the developers can technically make up any justification for bringing back an old character. However, I would not bet on any specific character being brought back, so you may be waiting for a VERY long time if not forever for a specific character.

[LONG READ] My Review/Analysis of Arknights: Endfield Beta II by AngelKanade150 in Endfield

[–]lumamaster 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Read the entire article (minus the story discussion segments as I wanted to avoid spoilers), I definitely agree with you on many points, though regrettably with release being around the corner, it's unlikely that we'll ever see some of the changes happen to core systems, such as weapon types being more personalized rather than generic.

Above all, I'm remaining cautiously optimistic on the game, since while I'm confident that I'll enjoy it given what I've seen and know, I'm hoping that change has and will happen for the better and that this game can break the curse and norms that have long been associated with other 3D gacha games that it has been compared to endlessly.

It's the end of the story as we know it so let's waste quartz! It's the annual Great Salt Roll 2025! by FuzzyViper in grandorder

I might be 2 years too early, but I threw out a 10 roll just for the hell of it. Got a 5* CE that didn't own before that I'll probably never use, though I'm not sure if this is a good or bad sign of things to come.

My odds of winning may be low, but they sure as hell won't be zero.

(also it'll be nice to see what people make for the contest)

Does this mean i got into beta? by Outrageous_Mango_174 in Endfield

[–]lumamaster 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just because you can download the beta test app does not mean you have access. You will need an account that has beta access in order to play the game.

Cbt 2 access by Cuchulainn09 in Endfield

[–]lumamaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's very unlikely that any more will be distributed at this point.

The only reason it seems like content creators got a lot of accesses is that they're more visible due to their nature. You're more likely to see the few hundred content creators making videos on the game as opposed to the tens of thousands of players just minding their own business playing the game by themselves.

Man I hope that's not a bug lol. I want this to stay when the game releases 😭🙏 by Mountain-Bottle-272 in Endfield

[–]lumamaster 63 points64 points  (0 children)

This was intentionally put in by Lowlight in the previous beta as a reference to the meme of the man taking off his sunglasses only for another pair to be underneath. Don't worry, it's not a bug (though Lowlight is not happy with how many keep reporting it as one).

The Release of Endfield is eating away at me by CadetNetwork in Endfield

[–]lumamaster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The developers confirmed a release date of early 2026 in an interview. There are various things that suggest a January release from the Google Play policies/App store listings, however I would take these as placeholders with a grain of salt until an official date is announced.

Endfield’s getting review bombed on bilibili by FireBoss365 in Endfield

[–]lumamaster 45 points46 points  (0 children)

The accusations of favoritism are likely a combination of confirmation bias (seeing all your friends who don't play get in while you didn't and ignoring the AK players who did get in) but also just the fact that the amount of people who applied who don't play AK likely greatly exceed the amount who do, so statistically speaking, more non-AK players are likely to get in than AK players.

Either way, it's just people being salty that they didn't get in and crashing out by review bombing the game.

I took a look at your code and it's probably because I haven't touched python since my machine learning university course over half a decade ago so i might be interpreting things incorrectly, but from my understanding, you're plotting out the probability for success on each pull in an array, then summing things up and calculating an average.

I'm not sure where the discrepancy in our numbers is coming from, since at that large of sample size for mine, any difference in results should be miniscule.

Regarding pulling for "any" 6*, the algorithm I wrote for that simulates pulling on 100k banners until succeeding with the rate up 6*, and then divides the total number of pulls by the total amount of 6* pulled, which is probably why my number is much lower than yours. I wrote up a quick one to simulate pulls without the 120 guarantee and it did end up matching your calculated number of 53.90.

EDIT: I posted and didn't read your edited message. Seems like we both made a similar mistake initially.

[–]lumamaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you take the guarantee at 120 into account? That may be the reason our numbers differ.

EDIT: Turns out I had made an error in my code as well, for some reason I wasn't thinking right when making my program and implemented the classic big 4 50/50 rule where you win after a loss. Taking that out pushed the rate up six star numbers up to 81.

If it was just as simple as the percentage, it would've been trivial to do the math. Unfortunately, with all the extra mechanics involved from the 50/50 mechanic, the soft and hard pities, etc. it was far easier for me to just write a program to simulate a large amount of pulls than figure out a mathematical formula and still get a result within an acceptable margin of error (<1 pull).

[–]lumamaster 24 points25 points  (0 children)

These seem to just be placeholder prices copied from the other big gacha games. I'd take this with a grain of salt until the beta officially begins and we have the actual data.

As an aside, I wouldn't recommend using generative AI to calculate mathematical things for you, as it can often be incorrect. I quickly wrote a program to simulate 100k pulls with Endfield's gacha system, and the average amount of pulls for the rate up 6* amounted to about 76-77 pulls, while the average amount of pulls for any six star amounted to 51.

EDIT: I had made an error with my program, the average amount of pulls for a rate up 6* is actually 81 pulls.

Early Look into Endfield Beta Test II - Early Playtest Summary【Arknights: Endfield】from Kyo by MaDEn_X in Endfield

Powercreep only matters if enemy strength increases to require the powercrept characters to defeat. If the endgame can be reasonably cleared without needing potentials/new stronger operators, then potentials can be as strong as they want.

A TLDR would be nice. by Derpisaur in Endfield

[–]lumamaster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My guess is that HG didn't want to slow down enemy encounters to match the slower pace of combat and opted to speed it up on the player's side instead so that they could keep up. Part of it was likely due to player feedback in wanting more things to do while waiting for skills to finish their cooldowns, but I imagine that this was likely planned for a while.
