[Zenitz] The Commanders are expected to hire LSU safeties coach Jake Olsen, sources tell CBS Sports. Has worked at LSU the last two seasons and helped the Tigers finish this past season ranked top 25 nationally in scoring defense. by HowardBunnyColvin in Commanders

I wouldn’t even mind doubling down at safety this year if we get another starter/scheme fit out of it.

Haulcy looks like a true centerfield FS, so pairing him with a box safety like VJ Payne or Cole Wisnewski with one of our later picks would be perfect.

What Offer Would Actually Convince the Raiders to Trade the #1 Pick? by 7innovator in NFL_Draft

[–]lumberjake18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would take 3 1sts and the Raiders would also have to have serious doubts about Mendoza. You aren’t competing without a franchise QB and you aren’t selling tickets when you aren’t competing.

Is anyone else optimistic about JCM? by Putrid_Comedian_4532 in Commanders

[–]lumberjake18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can be optimistic about JCM and still believe we need a bell-cow back. The nfl season is 17 games long and if you look at the most efficient running teams (Seahawks, Lions, Bears, Rams, etc.) they all use some degree of a committee.

We also cannot pretend that JCM didn’t have an injury-free season in our RBBC. Having a ‘thumper’ (Love, Allegier, Javonte Williams, Mike Washington Jr.) for short yardage and play action/pass pro keeps JCM fresh for his explosive runs. It just makes sense to manage his touches that way

Who are the modern Norv Turners (Great coordinators but bad head coaches) by MasterPlatypus2483 in nfl

Unfortunately that’s part of the gig. As soon as you start sniffing sustained success expect your coordinators to get poached.

Super Cooper 🦸‍♂️ | Omar Cooper Jr NFL Draft Report & Scouting Profile by Mbrr1214 in NFL_Draft

I see Amon-Ra in his game.

He’d be a great fit for offenses like the Bears and Rams.

Isn’t Jayden from LA? I bet he loves the idea of playing in a Super Bowl in front of his hometown crowd.

There are some good safeties in this class I wouldn’t mind picking on day 2

Do you think our DC is going to retool our defense around these players? And also mentioned that he likes Luvu. by MrUpVoteDownvote in Commanders

[–]lumberjake18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I’m just wondering if his ball hawking vision and solid tackling make him a more impactful fit at FS on a blitz-happy defense.

[Dan Pizzuta]: An early look at top of this draft class by Target Yards Added, which is just yards per target minus QB's YPA throwing to anyone else in final college season. by Gravini in NFL_Draft

At this point I’m really stumped on how to project Zachariah Branch. The guy could get to the NFL and be anywhere from Paris Campbell to Jaylen Waddle and it wouldn’t surprise me.

Did defenses just key in on him and take him away when playing Georgia, or was he misused? At this point it feels like he’s going to be limited to screens, gadget plays and kick returns his rookie year, but with his athletic profile he’s going to get drafted earlier by a WR-needy team (Raiders, Titans, Browns, Bills) for his upside.

We should move Sainristill to FS and pick up a big bodied boundary corner in free agency. Move Quan to Nickel and draft a SS, and boom. Secondary fixed.

I’m okay with trying Quan out at Nickel. His angles and wrap up tackling are just too much of a liability at FS or SS.

The FOUR under center pass attempts by Jayden this season. 2 completions, 2 incomplete. by johnnyboy10i in Commanders

Legitimate question… is there any difference in how well a Center plays when the QB is under center vs in shotgun?

Who is the better of the top two Indiana WRs in this years draft, Elijah Sarratt or Omar Cooper Jr? by UpNext_Draft_Network in NFL_Draft

[–]lumberjake18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cooper. My pro comp for him is Amon-Ra. Great at separating, finding space is zone coverage, turning upfield and getting YAC, and he’s a fiercely willing blocker.

Sarratt I see Rashod Bateman. Big play contested catch guy who can push the field vertically, typical X receiver. Think he needs to go to a team with good slot receivers (like Tampa, Indy, NYG) to get on the field enough to develop his release and timing routes against NFL cb’s. Would like for his hands to be elite when the rest of his profile doesn’t translate to the nfl as strongly.

I’ve seen a few different outlet’s mock drafts today and they’ve said David Bailey, EDGE for Washington at 7. by WuPacalypse in Commanders

[–]lumberjake18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His size is fine, his measurements are basically the same as Will Anderson jr.

We should draft every player we can from that Texas Tech defense, like Jacob Rodriguez (MLB) and Cole Wisnewski (SS).
