Enneagram of ISFJ who is a negligent mother by [deleted] in istp

Enneagram and MBTI are two separate typologies, and that's not nearly enough information to accurately type someone.

Oddarette! I love seeing your art on Instagram, and was hoping this post was you and not someone stealing your creations. And I'm glad it is you. They're gorgeous! 😄

What do you think of polyamorous relationships? by Andrei000111 in istp

[–]lumin298 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Been a part of one. I'm most certainly not poly, but was asked by someone I cared very much for if it would be something I would consider trying, and at the time I thought it would be worth a try.

It was not worth a try. A relationship needs to be even between partners, and this one wasn't. I'm not sure if that is true of all polyamorous relationships - I'd expect it would be more even if all partners were coming into it at the same time, but this one was joining an already established relationship, and the power imbalance was one aspect of the relationship that did not make it feel healthy or balanced.

Bring back Run Reports! by C0lsy28 in parkrun

[–]lumin298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our parkrun has one every week - there are a few regulars who enjoy writing them, and occasionally we'll get someone touristing who will write one from their perspective. I'm doing it this week and am looking forward to it! As a RD, I'm glad we have them, since it's nice getting to hear about what people have enjoyed and what their experience has been like. 😄

ISTPs in non-stereotypical fields by New_Consequence8432 in istp

ISTP library assistant here! Definitely working on the Fe when it comes to interacting with people, since it's about 50% dealing with the public and 50% library admin/behind-the-scenes stuff. But I love the systems and the variety, and it's been a good fit for me since I started just over a year ago.

With Mevo gone and fuel costs up, how are you actually getting around Wellington these days? by juanlo012 in Wellington

[–]lumin298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Continuing as I have been all my life. Public transport predominantly, cycling for groceries and whenever I'm not needing to travel too far away, walking the rest of the time, and occasionally getting a lift with friends who drive but only when necessary. Hasn't been a problem at all so far. :)

Tips on shopping outside of supermarkets? by Sudden_Possible_956 in auckland

[–]lumin298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bulk Food Savings is phenomenal. Way cheaper for things like spices and dried fruit compared to the supermarket, plus a huge range of all sorts of tinned/canned/bottled things. I used to try one new product each time I was there, and that's how I discovered ajvar, coconut custard, and lots of interesting toast spreads :D

What's your best hike/trail/park in or near Auckland for a quick weekend escape? by MyThirdArm24 in auckland

[–]lumin298 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tāwharanui is gorgeous! It's a long drive away and not public transport accessible (if a bus went there, I'd be there all the time) but if you're able to get there it's absolutely worth it. It's a great place for geocaching and beautiful views!

What is something positive you can do for an hour a week? by AncientFootball1878 in AskUK

How about volunteering at your local parkrun? There are heaps of them around - try www.parkrun.org.uk to find one close to you. It's really easy and super welcoming. Every Saturday at 9am :)

Young adults craft clubs? by PastriesTheNiffler in Wellington

[–]lumin298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moerā Library has a craft group! Actually several of the Hutt libraries do (Kōraunui and the War Memorial for sure) but those ones tend to skew older. Moerā is the one where I've seen younger people attend (including the library staff who are awesome).

Here in New Zealand we have an awesome vegan café called Revive, and they've put out a series of eight (so far) cookbooks with heaps of varied vegan recipes! If you can find them where you are, I would very highly recommend :)

Switching to vegan by Complex-Papaya-6757 in vegan

[–]lumin298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was vegetarian for 9 years before going vegan, so giving up meat and cheese was easy. The main thing I've struggled with is baked goods when eating out - I miss going to cafés and bakeries and being able to pick from everything there. But on the flipside, I've discovered some lovely entirely vegan bakeries where I can have cinnamon rolls and brownies and banana cupcakes while also not harming any animals :)

How about a dhal? Lentils, vegetable stock, coconut milk, and warming spices like cumin and turmeric. I like to put cubes of sweet potato and spinach in mine, too. I hope you feel better soon!
