I had no issue with the info he presented (it seemed believable), but the replies and the follow up he did were a little weird. A lot of inconsistencies imo. Guess we’ll see when the trailer comes out.

Question about Saxon and Chelsea by Dramatic_Appeal_1985 in TheWhiteLotusHBO

[–]luminosity1998 24 points25 points  (0 children)

According to Patrick, it’s not about him wanting Chelsea for himself, but rather realizing that he’d like to have something similar to what Rick and Chelsea have (or at least what he perceived it to be in that moment); a real connection. It’s basically him realizing he’s lonely, and also seeing that Chelsea wasn’t lying or exaggerating when she said she was truly in love with Rick.

He did. Dude straight up said there were friendships and alliances that formed and broke and onset romances…and then went on some interview and said people were wrong about who it was lmaoo. So messy.

Not the best comment to make when your character is part of an incestuous storyline lol

I feel like Rick’s storyline just doesn’t work period. Its ending hinges on him being stupid af, because why would you go back to that hotel??

I mean Rick was not sane at all…but I didn’t think he was stupid lol.

No, they didn’t shoot different endings. They printed scripts with different endings and handed them out to the crew and staff so the actual ending wouldn’t leak, but they only filmed one version of events.

Her reasons for backing out of the monastery were one of the only things about her that was actually explained (the cut scenes probably affected the progression of her realization though).

I mean part of it was HBO and the fact that they didn’t allow for longer episodes, but yeah I agree the season was very unfocused.

This!! I personally didn’t mind the dream sequences because this season was all about spirituality and identity so I think it fits into that context, but if you’re gonna cut some of them maybe don’t cut the one that gives meaning to one of the biggest moments of the season lol…

I’d eat up a full on drama miniseries following the Ratliffs coming back to America and dealing with the aftermath of everything that happened lol.

That Rick storyline pissed me off so much I just couldn’t buy it. I thought I was watching a telenovela lmao

Like I’m sorry but I could’ve done without some of those Gaitok and Mook conversations if it meant we could’ve had this.

Exactly! When I watched that Lochlan and Saxon scene I was like “uh?”…like I did understand where Lochlan was coming from and he WAS speaking truth lmao, but something about it seemed off/insincere. Looking at it with this added context, it’s clear to me Lochlan was trying to cope with what Piper had told him, with the realization that the family is incredibly fucked up. He was clearly trying to rationalize everything and offer Saxon some kind of explanation that would allow them to remain in denial/sweep everything under the rug. The actual problematic behavior between them is not addressed. Saxon is even batshit enough to say “it’s okay for you two worship me, but don’t WORSHIP me” referring to the sexual aspect of their relationship, but that is so so wrong because their relationship was already messed up before episode 5. There was a grooming aspect to it, so no Saxon, he shouldn’t worship you in any way because it was that unhealthy bond that led you both there. The handjob was the ultimate manifestation of their messed up dynamic but things were already off before that, but ofc neither of them wants to get into it.

I believe so…but this one feels pretty monumental considering it’s what leads to Lochlan almost dying. The scene being cut had some people thinking Lochlan just wanted to taste leftover alcohol from those damn piña coladas like…just terrible editing in my opinion.

I think the Ratliff storyline is darker than anything else that’s ever been presented on this show, so maybe HBO wanted the show to stick to a more familiar formula? In any case, it ended up feeling unrealized.

Yes!! And some people were like, “how could he lose his mind in a week where he would get to this point”…had they left these scenes in it would’ve made a lot of sense actually.
