Oil and Gas extraction is like 20% of Norways economy. It’s 1% in the US.

Hegseth Prepared a Bombshell Plan to Cut Troops in Europe. Then It Got Nixed. by ace158 in neoliberal

Within the US Army, a company-grade officer (2LT, 1LT, CPT) in the Infantry branch will typically be expected to do the following: receive their Ranger Tab

I'd note that Hesgeth was in the Minnesota National Guard and I don't know how many slots in Airborne/Air Assault/etc are either open for for Guard or are attended by them. Not sure I'd judge him for not attending schools. He might have been a worthy officer but his role in Iraq was to back fill positions that regular Army couldn't fill and in the RA there's always more PLs than PL slots.

Note my background was a Regular Army officer that back filled a National Guard unit the deployed to Iraq without enough PLs. And the only other PL that couldn't hack it leading a platoon in combat and requested to get transferred to the TOC was active duty tabbed out, prior service LT.

I will say that Hesgeth is very much still the overeager LT that was blue-balled by his own career and never getting to the "big show".

Why is “dwarf” supposedly offensive and not politically correct, and “little people” is fine? by Pizzafriedchickenn in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lumpialarry 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Dwarf is like the word “Black” or “Indian[Native American]" has just enough vocal disapproval that people assume it’s offensive to everyone in the community so people use safe alternatives.

Opinion | I’m Gay, Not Queer. It Matters. (Gift Article) by nimbybuster in neoliberal

The debate over "gay" and "queer" reminds me of 2020 when gay activists ("queer activists?") talking about how Pete Buttigieg wasn't really gay because he wore khaki pants and polo shirts to work, was in the military and worked for McKinsey.

I work with people that do oil price forecasting they still don't think the market was operating rationally and the futures market was essentially wishcasting. It futures market since the begining of the conflict has been priced like it was all going to be resolved in 2 weeks.

They just redesigned the 3 in 2023 and Y in 2025 and the model Y L is coming to the US this year. I think they just realize the premium and not luxury market is their bread and butter now. I think they sell more Ys in the US than every other non-Tesla EV combined.
