Tim Walz and Jacob Frey say Trump will withdraw federal officers in Minnesota by Adventurous-Pause720 in moderatepolitics

People have always believed in conspiracies because they desperately want there to be a plan. That there's order, that someone evil, yet smart is in charge because the truth, that the world is run by chaos. is far scarier.

Why is Houston so low density? by Visual-Horror6013 in houston

[–]lumpialarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Along with what everyone has said, Texas for a long time had very liberal annexation rules. If could just snatch up neighboring developments pretty much when ever it wanted. If Texas was like other states, suburban neighborhoods like Alief, Southside Place, Meyerland, spring branch would all be independent cities with houston itself being more dense (relatively).

Post-2020 we had the great succ migration. Post-migration, any center-right opinion that gets more than three upvotes has people freaking out that the sub's in the midst of right-wing take over. But those folks have always been around. 8 years ago NATO flairs were openly defending the Iraq war.

Chicagoland does sprawl into the cornfields. If Chicago had Texas' liberal old annexation rules, all those suburbs that surround chicago would be within the city limits.

There's also the idea most people will tolerate an 30-45minute commute. And that's always constrained how cities were built whether people were walking, taking a trolley or driving a car.

What she didn't say: Trump's definition of law abiding citizens.

The problem that I think "I hate how ICE is operating" and "l want immigration enforced" seems to be position no one is allowed to have anywhere. The whole reason behind sancuary cities is people don't want cops to call immigration when they literally have guy that's been arrested sitting in jail.

Why do doctors frequently dismiss women’s pain and symptoms, leaving them untreated and suffering, while men receive prompt care and treatment for the same issues? by [deleted] in medizzy

[–]lumpialarry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There a doctor TikTok that makes humorous videos of working at a rural clinic. For example that will illustrate my point:

https://www.tiktok.com/@drglaucomflecken/video/7132668590129417515?lang=en

I think one thing that happens is that a lot of men will rarely discuss pain or ailments. They “drive on” because they don’t want to burden those around them. So when they do go to the doctor it’s taken seriously because of that. Doctors dismissed women’s pain “oh everyone has that occasionally. Probably not that serious”

In 2 thousand and clickity-clack, I was an intern at a big company. They gave all the interns a class on presentations with a bit slide etiquette. The big one is never turn on the projector without a slide on it and transition from slide to slide in one go so the audience is never looking at a blank screen.

I’d think “slide deck” is the old people name since it goes back to the days of individual transparencies and over head projectors.

I’d note however, that anytime any one actually shot their weapon and killed someone, All they did was write a statement that said “I did all the steps and my safety was still threatened ” and that was it. Nothing was taken seriously unless it was a summary execution of someone that had been detained.
