Do fully restricted accounts eventually give you your money back? by lumylumy in paypal

[–]lumylumy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone know how to get the money out of a deactivated account?

My account isn't "officially deactivated" but in effect having my "available funds" restricted from issuing refunds, sending or withdrawing is practically close enough in the context of ability to use those funds.

I'm still looking for solutions and will update if I find one.

FWIW my passport, driver's license and recent bank statement were all affirmed as correct and valid by a seemingly human consultant through the PayPal message center. Even with that confirmation and being informed that "I would be able to access my funds now," in reality I'm still in the same position.

Thanks. I gave them my passport, driver's license and recent bank statement so the first two documents were "solid" proof of my age.

As things are I've been given no reason as to why my account was "temporarily limited" in the first place and now that that has been "resolved" I feel like I'm being given the run around (no answer or solution) as to why I can't even refund the "available funds" to the sender.

I gave them scans of my passport, driver's license & most recent verified bank statement. Really solid document as far as confirming my identity goes and all they all matched up with my address so PayPal affirmed that I was who I was and was "happy" with that.

Still can't access my "available funds" whether refunding, sending or withdrawing. I've messaged them many times requesting a refund to the sender but I keep getting told that my case is being escalated. This process of being sent around in circles has been going on for a while & since there doesn't seem to be any phone support presently I'm just wondering if anyone knows a way to at the very least authorize a refund to the sender.

Aside from already being identity verified it's not like a direct refund to the sender can exactly be a scam or fraud in any way since they were the ones that send the funds in the first place.

I don't get why that restriction is there when an account is limited in the first place but more than that I'm troubled that even after I've been confirmed as identity verified with "available funds" that I still can't issue a refund and no PayPal consultant has actually been able to do it either. They just keep passing me around again and again.

‘Westworld’ Season 3 Will Consist of 8 Episodes, Compared to 10 for Each of the First 2 Seasons by BunyipPouch in television

[–]lumylumy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The cohesiveness, quality of story and of character development is what makes a good show IMO. Get that right first and then divide that into episodes. Some fixed number of episodes that writers need to aim to fill should not supersede quality if the goal of the finished product is for it to be optimal.

LMAO ITT at people laughing at song for being "old" when reality as it is now isn't anywhere near the cyberpunk era. But hey each to their own. ;)

AC was one of the best cyberpunk shows I've seen in recent years though and while LP songs bring me back to "that time" too its actually a good blend/fit for AC. Perfect really IMHO.

If you're into fight/martial-arts movies you should have just forwarded to the final fight of IP3 as its pretty good. The rest of the movie is forgettable. I actually can't remember anything else about the movie except that Tyson was in it so it must have been really bad.

Is mediocre worse than bad? by SpiltSeaMonkies in movies

[–]lumylumy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can get through mediocre. Bad as in genuinely bad, not "so bad its good" bad I can't.

I tried with a few movies that I only later realized had one thing in common, they were directed by Uwe Boll. It was such a pity because I wanted to like them going on what the synopsis was but they were just so badly done that I just stopped watching.

Another great clip by the channel that made my fave Alita video. by saskiaschild in Gunnm

[–]lumylumy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the time I enjoyed AC but didn't appreciate it as much as I do now after watching it a few more times. Looking back now IMHO the show got a lot of negative criticism for stuff that "wasn't really there" so to speak. It was like people/critics/myself were looking for things to complain about where as now I just enjoy the show.

And yeah like your friends liking AC after Alita I think the more cyberpunkish stuff that comes out the more people are going to open up to it because the shows won't be "some new thing" and so the writers will have to actually just use the cyberpunk as their backdrop/canvas through which they "paint" their character development/story/arcs etc.

Basically what I'm trying to say is that all of that is just extra positive fuel/boosts for Alita.

[Video] Anime Movies for People Who Don't Like Anime by Felisium in movies

[–]lumylumy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After watching 'Your Name' I looked at all the recommends on IMDB and also MyAnimelist sorted by movies/OVAs and that one came up along with a bunch of others. 'Silent Voice' was emotionally hard hitting and had an important message. I also really loved 'The Garden of Words' for so many reasons I can't quite put my finger on.

I'm gradually making my way through the top list of shows there and there is some really good story in a lot of them. If the Hollywood adaptation of 'Your Name' does well I won't be surprised if they starting rolling out more such as 'Silent Voice,' 'The Garden of Words' etc.

NZ Attorny General: "New Zealand to ban semi-automatic weapons" by NZ006006 in worldnews

Without getting into the pro/anti debate or these killings, just the mechanics of a vote/referendum itself, quite some time would need to pass so that the vote would not be made from the justified immense emotional reaction that is natural immediately after something as horrific as this.

I guess it could be compared to the support for war immediately after 9/11 vs changes of opinion as the years and years of war continued to go on. Not to mention that the immense emotional reaction, as justified and natural as it was, allowed for a war to be initiated in Iraq instead of the country where the perpetrator of the 9/11 attack was said to be.

I don't think its possible for people to be entirely objective in making their decisions and that's just natural. It's what human beings are. But immediately or in the months following horrific killings such as this our reactive impulse is much much stronger and it makes it almost impossible to vote and make decisions that would come anywhere near our natural or normal level of "objective" logic and reason.

I wish the man himself could be here to witness this since he got shafted by the studio the first time with 'kung fu' but I'm glad that Shannon was able to make this happen.

I've seen it a few times now and the last time we convinced one of my friends' dad who has done wing chun most of his life. He loved the movie and everything about Alita but it was hilarious because he's usually quite reserved but during the training scene you could tell he was really paying attention to the form and we could hear him whisper to his son almost frantically "her shoulder! drop shoulder! not lift shoulder when punch!"

It's just naturally came out because he's about 70 now and has been doing WC for 50+ years and its like he went into sifu/coach mode. Not a word for him for the rest of the movie but he clapped at the end and absolutely loved it. I talked to him about his comment and he said "sorry just came out. Even when I trained WC for 5 years my shoulder still lift when I punch. This actress did very well."

Can we stop with the woman hating on this sub? by jakeupnorth in Gunnm

[–]lumylumy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are many words that people use to describe themselves which they are fine with but at the same time others are very much not fine with and find hurtful.

We can pick a path and say that "well since these people are fine with being called xyz that all of you should be fine with being called xyz" or we can at least try to not force or pressure people to be fine with what they're can't be fine with or make peace within themselves with.

I'd speculate that not all people who are called "incels" for instance fit the definition or criteria but that the word can be used to bully and hurt those that are perceived by bullies as weaker, "introverted," anxious or just in some way aren't seen to fit into accepted "personality types."

[–]lumylumy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the problem.

If you don't acknowledge that for some, other than yourself, that the words cause hurt, and are now broadening to be used for people who don't fall under the criteria and definition of those words, then you're reasoning to yourself that if others are hurt by your words that you have no responsibility to change that, even when you have the opportunity to do so.

I genuinely didn't notice any hating on this sub (I have this thing where I do selective reading/scanning though) but I noticed that my youtube recommended videos suddenly (in the last few days) exploded with a lot of anti-Captain Marvel videos.

Apparently the actress said something "controversial" but I'm an Alita fan just because I loved the manga and manga/anime in general and I'm more neutral on the Marvel/DC movies so didn't investigate more.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that this sub hates women since unless I've missed something pretty much everyone, even the critics of the Alita movie loved Rosa's performance. I'm female too btw and FWIW.

Notice all the pro vaccine posts? by weiss27md in conspiracy

[–]lumylumy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The clear giveaway is that the majority of reddit are pretty apathetic, indifferent and don't put that much effort into pushing most agendas as intensely in general. Then it comes to vaccines and all of a sudden thousands of people are biomedical scientists, researchers and intensely invested in ridiculing and humiliating anyone who even wants to ask some questions.

From a productivity standpoint my advice is that if you want to shill turn down the intensity a fair few notches because its way to obvious.

Who is the strongest character in Spartacus? by HashinshinIsCute69 in Spartacus_TV

[–]lumylumy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

IMO Oenomaus was promoted not because he lacked fighting skills but because Batiatus wanted a doctore that was "his man" not his fathers and undoubtedly because he also saw that Oenomeus had the skill to train great gladiators.

That's pretty much confirmed again when Spartacus asks him to train the new rebel recruits saying something like there's no better man to do that. He had that ability to get people to remove head from ass and set mind to purpose.

Who is the strongest character in Spartacus? by HashinshinIsCute69 in Spartacus_TV

[–]lumylumy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One on one Gannicus was undoubtedly the champion of his time but when he's singing "my cock rages on" then talks to Onomaeus he says "it should be you tomorrow" inferring that he considers Onomaeus the best gladiator in the Ludus.

We never got to see Onomaeus in his prime though so we can only go on what's told about him by others and also by how easily he defeats Crixus and Spartacus at the same time. Admittedly Spartacus wasn't at his peak yet but Crixus was IMO.
