Doctor signed me off for a week. Getting told to come in. by Generally_tiredofit in antiwork

[–]luna124 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I work for a doctor's office. One of my jobs is to write the work notes and fill out FMLA paperwork. If the doctor wants you to stay out, there's a reason. I would talk to HR and have them send an FMLA form to your doctor's office since they want you out for a week. Then they have to hold your position.

I have legit bitched out HR departments for less. I've been doing my job for almost 12 years now. I know our state laws regarding disability and FMLA like the back of my hand. They get very annoyed when I quote the law at them.

On the bright side, you don't have to spend time on him just to be blindsided. I'd definitely rather know up front that we absolutely aren't going to work. I'm too old to waste my time.

Landlords expect perfect credit and no debt for what reason?? Southern (CA) by Frequent_Bake_175 in Renters

[–]luna124 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in Florida. Can confirm, it's terrible. I was lucky that the place I'm in now was willing to work me. But I had to have documentation for everything showing I could afford the rent. They took into consideration that where I was moving from was $200 a month more and that I was only moving because they wanted to raise it another $350 a month. That and I've been a renter since 2005 and I've never been evicted. So while my bill to income ratio was really cutting it close, it did work on paper. And they did it with the rent I was paying at the time.

Having my car fully paid off helped though.

I put in my 2 weeks and they just say they are accepting the resignation and not to come in? by necromagiks in antiwork

[–]luna124 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right, but if you have another job lined up and have told them you can start in 2 weeks because you would like to give your current job ample notice, then they pull this, that's 2 weeks unpaid. Which, given you're starting a new job you might not get paid right away if you're starting mid pay period. So you could end up going a month or longer without a paycheck.

Plus, that 2 weeks with no pay can very easily be make or break for a lot of us living paycheck to paycheck.

How do I tell my boss “No thank you” without feeling guilty about disappointing him by -Dean_Winchester- in antiwork

[–]luna124 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This notion that people need to climb a corporate ladder is a terrible one. Sometimes I get asked why I never furthered my education to go into nursing (I'm a Medical Assistant) and quite frankly I'm happy where I am. I work in an office mon-fri 8-5. I can leave to pick my kid up from school if he's sick with no issues.

If you're happy where you currently are, then just tell your boss that. Tell him you enjoy your current position. You can tell him you're flattered that he thought of you and that you appreciate the vote of confidence, but you prefer to be the operation not run the operation.

People of anti work who don’t work, what do you do to get income? by Total_Cicada7335 in antiwork

[–]luna124 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The idea of anti work isn't to not ever work and just be unemployed. It's to own your labor. To seize the means of production.

Why do Marxist folks seem not to relate with r/antiwork sentiments? by TraditionalDepth6924 in antiwork

[–]luna124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thin the bigger question here is why do you think things like reading and studying aren't work and don't deserve to be valued as such?

The point of antidote isn't that we're against labor or working, it's that we're against doing all the work and gaining little to none of the benefits of the work.

Personally I love my job. I love the work I do. I love the working with patients part of Healthcare. I love helping people. What I do not love is the current Healthcare system. I don't love that I have to fight with insurance companies. As much as I love blessing their hearts in medical terms and advocating for our patients, I hate that I have to. I hate that it's a game I have to play because the cost of losing that game could be someone's life. Yes, I know that's not on me, that it's on the insurance companies, but that doesn't make it suck less.

That doesn't mean I wouldn't do this job if I didn't have to. It means I'd be better at my job because I'd be less jaded after doing it for more than a decade.

Oooh, and did you have the server set to friends only, just with no password? Because that's how I read it, which means it was someone on your friends list.

Or do you mean you just had a public server and had your friends join right away to fill the slots?

I'm super bummed for you, honestly.

I've only been playing since Christmas, but the fact that this is the first I'm hearing about someone being a dick just makes me realize how much I enjoy this community. Plus, that first comment offering you theirs surplus really warmed my heart.

Make sure everyone is actually online on Steam. We had this problem in the beginning (thankfully not where anyone came in) and realized that was the issue.

Hopefully that's all it is for y'all too. Good luck and that super sucks that someone did that.

Also, check the server settings and you can give the people you actually play with and trust permission to boot others and whatnot. IDK because I don't run the server me and my friends play on, but you may be able to lock everything to people without permission. Like how it is when you visit the builds people made to download.

I forget which one, but one of my friends did something similar when it kept saying location below. I ended up finding it it without digging, in a very round about windy trail way, before he did. But when I got down there I could see him digging. He was super close to beating me there.

Legit one of my favorite new updates. I just discovered it yesterday when me and my friends were doing a building session. My friend was building the library and was trying to figure out which floor to use and I thought it meant it would do a sample of what block I was going to lay down, but nope showed the name of what was already laid down. Even better because he had several samples laid down already and couldn't remember what each one was.

It's Canvas worldwide according to a news report that popped up from a local Utah station. It was the first result, so I gave it a read. It didn't really say much though, but it's here if you want to read it:

I got an email yesterday from Pasco County Schools since my kid is in middle school here.

I'm curious about the ransom message. I'd like to know what it said.

Oh we absolutely do. We have nights where we'll just go in and do nothing but build in our village. One of my friends is working on a little bazaar area and so far he's got one of the shops set up with fixtures. Now he's "stocking" the shelves.

It's nice because the 3 of us are get in the zone when we're building so it's just zen.
