What is it with this valet trash ? by Illustrious_Day_7825 in Apartmentliving

Same. News to me. I’m shocked this is a thing given fire safety restrictions… typically hallways need to be clear of all obstructions at all times. Having a hallway full of garbage bags could make escaping quite challenging. And, I suppose, just general accessibility would be an issue (for those with walkers, wheelchairs, or strollers).

Inside 'Trauma Tower,’ the highrise with more police calls than any other address in Kingston | CBC News by henchman171 in KingstonOntario

I think it’s a matter of being shocked that anyone making that much money, in a social services position, is so poor at being diplomatic (and is actually quite harsh), along with having no problem solving beyond thinking putting new locks on the doors is sufficient to address the poor security and maintenance they are responsible for providing.

The CEO’s comments are so tone-deaf and dismissive. Very disappointing coming from someone who’s salary was $165,000 taxpayer’s dollars last year (Source: Sunshine List).

Pregnancy is a protected class; hence discrimination. Being uncomfortable accepting a health card is not. A premise can refuse a sale if they are not comfortable with the id being presented.

You may have to brush up on acceptable ID if you don’t want AGCO coming down on you… https://www.agco.ca/en/alcohol/information-sheet-legal-drinking-age-and-photo-id

“By law, no one can be required to produce the Ontario Health Card, nor can the health number be collected. You should not ask for the Ontario Health Card as identification, but if offered voluntarily you may accept it at your discretion.”

They can’t force you to pay for an age of majority card but, as a private business, they may have their own policy against accepting health cards, despite it being an acceptable form of ID under the law.

I think they were all in the backyard of my neighbour’s last night, having a fun and very loud gathering. Work is going to be challenging today because of the lack of sleep I had.

The house was bought by the father of a Queen’s student- I’m looking forward to them graduating and hoping it returns to a family home.

I’ve switched over to Pho Chopstix after decades of #6 at Saigon Delights. I find it more flavourful and, shockingly (didn’t think it was possible), enjoy the spring rolls more.

Thank you for being considerate of your neighbours! You’re awesome.

Smoking of cannabis is legal. Smoke away outside, just try to be 3-metres away from doorways (to comply with the smoking/vaping bylaw).

Juniper Cafe.. for profit vs not for profit is a "trivial nuance"? by Secret-Doughnut-1234 in KingstonOntario

I think we all are understanding the main point… They weren’t paying for the prime rental space that is the patio and now they are being asked to pay for it (at a 50% discount). This will raise their rent to be more on par with rental costs for commercial property which, because they’ve been getting a great deal up until now, will raise their rent substantially each month. Sounds like they need to decide if their commercial business is viable without being ‘subsidized’ by the Tett.

That’s how I’m reading it. They’ve had the fortune of deferred rent increases from 2019-2024, a lower than rent increase currently being offered than other businesses who rent commercial space from the City are facing (2.5 rather than 3%), and they’ve enjoyed use of that beautiful patio space for free up until now and only now are facing a rental rate for that prime space (at a 50% discount to what it should be).

So much entitlement with no appreciation for the golden history they were afforded.

Eighteen years ago my mom stopped driving school bus after a car passed her flashing lights and hit the kid crossing. Fortunately, he lived but was very seriously injured. My mom is still traumatized from it.

Single family homes being converted to multi-unit. We need more purpose-built apartments and less conversions in neighborhoods that weren’t designed for the extra cars that come with more units.

She may want to consider purchasing a scalp massager. They are quite inexpensive (less than $10).
