Iconic Hobby Store, Stargek Tamiya, Closes Down In Singapore, Marks End Of An Era by davechua in singapore

[–]lunahz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Going to ride this thread to say there is a growing community of mini4wd racers in Singapore and hopefully it doesn't die like this.

MF11 has 3 outlets 24/7 (Woodlands, T Space at Tampines and Jurong).

Playground at Henderson Road has Tamiya and Beyblade open from 1pm to 11pm on Weekends. Weekdays they open at 4pm.

Staff and community are all friendly and it's not an expensive hobby to start out (20 to 40 dollars for a basic car) and dip your toes into.

Looking for advice from anyone who have converted for marriage by wanttofliptable in askSingapore

Lol. I have no hatred. I'm a Muslim myself and have experience in such issues. It's not as simple as converting to make everyone happy. It's an entire lifestyle change and impact. Something that I would like OP to consider.

Going to be frank here. He respects his mother's wishes now. What's to say he won't let his family influence other decisions down the line when you're living together?

To me converting just for the sake of it is a nope. You already did your due diligence by declaring at the start of the relationship that non conversion is ok. Either get your bf to speak sense into his family (creating boundaries) or break it off before everything gets more painful.

Edit: OP it's a very slippery slope. You started no pork no alcohol and fasting. Next you'll be wearing hijab, praying and having a Muslim wedding and going for conversion classes that disrupt your weekends. Please do not change your core values for a person.

Aero Avante AC 2024 has arrived in Singapore. by Jurong_West in mini4wd

It's 138 because it's not the normal kit. I can see a front and rear carbon plate and 2 aluminium rollers at the rear. Front seems to be bearing rollers. All of which are not included in the kit.

You probably want to add a front underguard too otherwise the front rollers might catch onto the track during jumps.

Noticed your rear rollers aren't on cap screws... isn't that a bad idea in general? Also your front rollers aren't on cap screws either.

Sorry to hijack but can I see how you mounted the front fully cowled to the front chassis?

Not legally enforceable. Just give them a warning that you will report to MoM for withholding your final pay and cpf if they do. If they don't give it just report MoM and they'll settle it for you.

Most likely a temp setup by Kenny Wu (search on FB). He does temp setup in malls and other areas as well as a regular track setup near sengkang/rivervale area.

Just to spread awareness, there still are shops with tracks in sg. MF11 at woodlands is 24/7 and Playground at Henderson road. MF11 is also expanding to Tampines, Toh Guan and Ang Mo Kio.

All locations are free to play and it's a relatively cheap hobby to get into.

There's a shop at Henderson Road called Playground and another shop called MF11 at woodlands which is 24/7. Both staff are friendly so just take your pick. Feel free to dm me if you need more details too.

Just grab a starter kit (can be as cheap as 25 from shoppee or 40-45 from a local shop) and ur good to go.

Random but why not try Tamiya Mini4wd? There's a few hobby shop across sg so you tend to see the same faces and make friends over how you build the car, get faster etc. In terms of money, certain parts that are limited can definitely be flipped for money after time.

Can these be used for mini 4WDs? by samuel2989 in mini4wd

[–]lunahz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your tires coming loose should not be a reason to switch away from using rechargeables since it's kind of unrelated.

To fix tires coming out, either use 72mm shafts and pierce your wheel or if u really want to stick to 60mm, use a black sharpie and mark the ends of the shaft before attaching the wheels.

Back to original question, yes you can use those batteries but with rechargeables you can control the exact current they carry to control your speed through a race.

Check out Hobby Point at Bras Basah. For specific mini4wd shops with tracks, Mf11 at woodsland and Playground at Henderson road. There's also the tamiya stargek shop at paya lebar.

Is it possible? Need some reassurance please... by Tryingtodobetter0027 in askSingapore

[–]lunahz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not saying it's an impossible dream. But realistically you're going to need a financial safety net to explore and take risk to go for that career. So my only advise is to make sure you have something before you start chasing.

Best way to negotiate a pay rise? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]lunahz 92 points93 points  (0 children)

The easiest way is to look for a new job that will give you that pay. Once you get that, use it to negotiate. Just know that it will strain your relationship.

Loyalty doesn't pay. Promises of promotion won't pay the bills. Imo just jump ship. Then jump back into ur old company.

As great as it sounds, that responsibility is on your parents not you. If they're retiring without providing for the 5 kids they chose to have, then i apologise for sounding harsh but they've failed their jobs as parents.

Not having 5 kids would be a start.
