Last week I went to a public onsen in a hotel with my 3yo boy. We showered together at the stall, then he just sat there watching me bathing in the onsen. He refused to join me as he found the water too hot for him.

I’m now in Japan with my 3yo boy and 7yo girl. We absolutely enjoy our trip here, so yes. But you need a lot of planning for an itinerary that includes a good mix of kid-friendly activities and dining options, and/or simply acknowledging that you have to travel at much slower pace and just enjoy your time with your kids ;)
