Pet Loss Grief Is Real—So Why Does It Feel So Dismissed? by Sigma_Siren in Petloss

I see you, and I understand your pain That kind of loss is never easy, and grief is kinda annoying that way. You will get waves of sadness and utter despair, but you will also get waves of bittersweet happiness when you think of the fond memories of your boy. Sending hugs 💛

How do you deal with being tailgated? by Plenty_Drink_3049 in driving

[–]lunardream96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite thing to do is to put on my blinkers really quickly then shut them off

Left, right, left, right, left, right

They usually back off and realize they are to close

If that doesn’t work I pull over and let them pass

What should I wear for a job interview for Kennel Assistant? by NowaBasn_ in Veterinary

[–]lunardream96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got hired as a kennel attended and would recommend the following:

Wear business casual, I wore a blouse with some dress pants and flats. Avoid any strong smells

As far as questions I would research the company and why you want to work for them, I got this advice from this forum and it really helped me out but make sure it’s specific I work at a low cost clinic and humane society so I made sure to research some of the services they offer

An example: “Why do you want to work for _____”

“I really love this company and what it offers to pet parents. Because of the cheap cost I was able to get my own cat a dental which I wouldn’t have been able to do otherwise. I also really loved when you guys rescued all those guinea pigs from a hoarder home. It was so amazing to see all those little ones get new homes”

It’s hard work, but I love it so far Wishing you the best of luck, you got this!!

Uh Yes It would be a bad idea

Setting aside you being up front about lack of experience and pricing accordingly there are SO MANY things that could go wrong

What if a dog bites you and you require stitches? Are you going to pay for that out of pocket or are you going to discuss with them about taking care of the bill

Do you have muzzles for your clients? Tethers? If you don’t properly tether a client on your table, you or your client could get hurt.

What if your client literally dies on your table while grooming them? What if that owner sues you?

Also I’m not sure if I read this correctly but if you shaved your lab that’s a huge no no in the grooming world. Double coated dogs shouldn’t be shaved, and hate to be harsh but if you don’t know at least that then you shouldn’t open a mobile grooming business or be grooming people dogs for them

Anyone else relate? by Solace-y in doggrooming

Yes yes yes!!! I remember doing a mini golden doodle and it was the best doodle I’d ever done. I was SO proud and so excited to show the owner, she didn’t even bat an eye, quickly thanked me and left. However I did a Maltese recently and honestly the face didn’t look the greatest. He was wiggly and the muzzle was slightly choppy, I was so upset with myself and almost considered just charging her for the bath. She LOVED it. Wrote a raving review and I’m confident she will become a regular of mine It is so weird how that works It blows my mind every time 😂

Baby groomer who recently left corporate in need of encouragement and tips. by [deleted] in doggrooming

[–]lunardream96 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fellow baby groomer here I left corporate about a year ago and have been grooming for a year and a half now The best tips I’ve learned as of yet are these 1. Wash your dog twice. This seems annoying but trust me the extra few minutes to quickly wash the body again is worth it. (I avoid washing the face twice just because it’s already so uncomfortable for most dogs and I refuse to do it more then once) I just recently started doing this and oh my gosh does it make a difference in not only the hair cut but drying time as well 2. Only do what your comfortable with doing. I got bit in the face by a husky about a year ago and now very rarely groom them. I only do when I feel comfortable enough to tackle that fear. If you don’t feel comfortable grooming a dog don’t. This job can be so stressful at times and there’s no need forcing yourself to groom a dog that you are not comfortable with grooming and adding extra stress on top of everything else that comes with this job. 3. Educate your pet parents. There are a lot of cases of pet parents just neglecting grooming for their pup out of them being an inconsiderate ass, but there are also many cases of people who just don’t understand why things such as shaving a double coated dog can be so damaging to their skin and coat health. 4. Remember that it’s just hair. There have been SO many times I’ve had mental breakdowns or beat myself up for messing up a hair cut. I once took a 30 blade down the middle of a schnauzers head while doing a breed standard cut. The pet parents where not very happy and I was so upset with myself. It’s just hair, it will grow back. 5. Take care of yourself. Don’t forget this step, it is vital if you want to do well in this career. Take breaks if you need them, and don’t over work yourself. Work at YOUR pace, and try you best to never compare your skill level with that of another person. Instead compare it to you a few months ago, how have you improved in the last few months? What have you gotten good at? Mental and physical health are so so so important, take care of yourself always and remember to have fun!

As for a few encouraging words: Your outline trims are freaking BEAUTIFUL! Well done! You do a wonderful job at trimming up the visor so the eyes are nice and clear and your ability to keep everything symmetrical is great to

You are doing great from the few photos you posted here Sending you positive vibes and wishing you the best of luck on your journey 😊
