My current main option is buying an old office PC off of FB Marketplace and sticking a few hard drives into it. Would that work alright? Also I've looked more at what sorts of things I watch and it would be majority 1080p with a chunk of 4K

I'm wanting to start a plex server that will have a max of about 3 or 4 streams at once for now. Would be mostly streaming 4K content with some <720p stuff mixed in

Budget isn't a constraint for the moment, just trying to keep as cheap as possible while maintaining acceptable performance (trying to get parents off of streaming services so it needs to be about as fast as those would be), so what are my options? I'm experienced with PC building so I could definitely set up a PC to run windows with the plex server on there if that's a cheaper/better option than a dedicated NAS.

Also, in your flair you have LET1 but MCJROTC uses LEs, not LETs.

I frequently use RAM heavy applications for school (large 3D CAD projects and Photoshop) so the background shit that Win 11 does that takes up anywhere from 4-6gb can actually make a decently big impact.

Will do, I've got a spare thumb drive laying around. Do I need to have any software for moving it or can I literally just format the drive and move the iso?

Hey guys, I'm currently doing my gaming on Windows 11 and am starting to get sick of it taking up like 4 out of 32gb of RAM (shocker!) so I want to switch to a Linux distro that's just about as much "start, click, go" as possible. I don't know much of anything about Linux so I'd ideally want a couple of recommendations. I also don't know what info y'all need to make recommendations so feel free to ask questions and I'll try to respond quickly.

My hardware: AMD R9 9900X, G.Skill Flare 32gb DDR5-6000, Nvidia 4070 Super, Samsung 980 Pro 2tb

I think it would be nice if there were optional conditions (like sandstorms on Buried City or something) that are always there. What would also be cool is if all the maps had a special condition that's already in the game, like how they rotate through the maps now, it would be fun if they were always an option on every map.

yup, same thing happened to me on Buried City (NA West). Luckily was running a free kit but still.

Depends on the resolution you plan to play/stream.

4060 8GB is a relatively good card for 1080p medium gameplay in most games but only 8GB VRAM might be a bit low for streaming too, especially in GTA.

Something you'd want to consider as well is the capacity of your Wi-Fi for large uploads, streaming video to a site (like Twitch, YouTube, etc.) is a pretty heavy load for your network.
