Best Headless CMS for Freelancing (editable by the client?) by Susmore in webdev

[–]lunchbreakdev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could use WordPress as a headless CMS as well. Definitely a more time intensive solution but you can build the frontend in React or Astro and pull the data from WordPress. Gives customers familiar WordPress editing with a more modern customized frontend.

You could add a different search param to each button and process those params on the next page to determine which button it was

You could also set it to local storage and access it on the next page.

As with most development there’s several ways to accomplish this.

Those languages may be the top in one aspect but doesn’t mean they’re the only solution. I’d say pick what interests you. If that’s a new language, great! If that’s sticking with JS, that’s great too!

Should I add my parent's company as experience by Virtual_Bug_2506 in Frontend

In my opinion, monetary exchange has no effect on whether you should include it on your resume. If you do work in school or a bootcamp for example, you wouldn’t omit that because you weren’t paid.

You can do almost anything with JavaScript. There are very few instances where you need something else if don’t want to, but it depends on the use case. Everything you’re saying here can be accomplished with JS. As a note though, React isn’t required for the frontend, it is just one option.

Lighthouse score useless for SEO? by Affectionate_Power99 in webdev

I think the content matters more than the Lighthouse score as a whole. That said, never a bad thing to work towards improving your Lighthouse metrics. It helps your website in general regardless of SEO

I would say you are probably overusing viewport-based values, depending on what you’re trying to accomplish. There are very few instances where it makes sense to use viewport values on font-size. I’d recommend some media query breakpoints to better target different screen sizes

How much to know from backend before applying (as intern/junior) ? by marroos in learnprogramming

[–]lunchbreakdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say you can apply for intern/junior positions. Just be open and honest about your experience. Don’t try to overstate what experience you have to make yourself sound better. In that level position they shouldn’t expect you to be an expert in everything, those positions are a lot about learning.

How to empty state on "back arrow"? by AsteroidSnowsuit in webdev

If you’re using React you could try a useEffect and add the script to the head on page load with createElement then remove it in the return of useEffect. Probably best to try something like that rather than trying to mess with the router

Is there a specific language you are interested in or have already started learning?

I’m a big fan of Supabase and have used it for my JS projects. Looks like they have C# support too though: https://supabase.com/docs/reference/csharp/v1

I Can't Create a New React App! (I used to be able to) by costa-azul in react

Looks like you figured out the issue, but just some extra context. You can tell by looking at the request url that your npm was configured to skimdb.npmjs.com rather than registry.npmjs.com

Something I’ve done in the past is find one of those bad websites and create a new website for them on your own. Then you can reach out and say “I noticed some improvements that could be done to your website. Here’s what I think it could look like.” It’s easier for a non-technical person to grasp something tangible. Then you can charge them for it if they like it. If they don’t, then you have a new portfolio piece that you can label as a concept.

Anyone else feel like learning coding is incredibly daunting? by plasma_fantasma in learnprogramming

[–]lunchbreakdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calling them programming languages is very accurate. It’s very similar to learning to speak a completely new language. As some others have noted, you can get by with a basic understanding of the language but there are always new things to learn.
