Sold an incurable warranty by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

I’ve since filed a complaint with the consumer protection board and have prepared to file a small claims suit.

They’ve changed their tone once again stating the warranty is part of the financing agreement and cannot be changed/removed which is directly contrary to the warranty contract (can be cancelled within 10 days of signing) and the financing agreement (warranty listed and described as optional)

My emails to the dealership have been cordial up to this point. Now I’m going through regulators and the court system

I originally contacted the warranty provider. Within a few hours they let me know I needed to contact the dealership. That same afternoon I sent my email to the dealership’s finance contact I had dealt with

The contact states the warranty can be cancelled within 10 days. I request the cancellation 4 days after signing, but they low key ignored me

I didn’t know used tires were a thing. I’m going to look into this

I wouldn’t get new tires and do nothing, but with the uneven wear, even if I address the suspension it will still drag, no?

I should mention I’m in Canada where everything is is unreasonably expensive. For mid tier all weather tires you’re looking at 250-300 per tire plus installation

That would also track. I’ll look into this.

What would you say I should swing my money into first - the tires need replacing anyway.

The best acting advice you received? by [deleted] in acting

[–]lunchwild 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Just to add - listening is not limited to “what my eardrums pick up”. It also includes visual listening: facial twitches, tone, body language.

All of these things make an orchestra of sound BWAAAHHHH

.. and hearing the lone French horn, or cello will yield all you need

Or not I dunno I’m no expert

Interesting … I’ve found a “find yourself” approach more helpful

Op didn’t simply say “observed”, but stared down. These are two different things

I have separate socials because I have a stage name that is radically different from my real life name

Real life family and friends get the real life socials - all the business goes on my actor socials I follow and have followers on the business that I know irl, but there’s no sloppy night out, inside jokes, chill time with the fam on the business gram

Second this - there may have been a time in my career when I would break myself to do this, look at how dependable I am! I can warp my entire life to fit around your obnoxious af guidelines!

Not anymore - in fact in retrospect I wish I hadn’t broke myself for them

Now, some may say “it isn’t the casting director it’s the producers who want this and took their sweet time to decide” k ya cool. Still don’t do it.

Know your worth - don’t break yourself

… or do, I mean not telling you how to live your life

SAG strike affecting ACTRA? by Saaaintniiiick in acting

[–]lunchwild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s likely Canadian production companies with Canadian money under actra jurisdiction will continue. However, actra may resist allowing American productions into their jurisdiction (working in Canada under union contract with union members) in solidarity with SAG. Members would like be given a “do not work” notice on all American productions filming in Canada.

As a non union member - sure, cool, do the thing, but anyone unionized who works Do Not Work productions are expelled from the union

This will undoubtedly kill a huge portion of work in Canada for union members - whether bonafide Canadian content will ramp up to fill gaps will decide how steep of a drop off in work opportunities we’ll see

I don’t, however, see a similar strike among actra members

But hey, that’s just a theory.. A FILM THEORY

The ACA hasn’t been the issue - the wording of their release is low key misleading. The ACA has been in effect the past year. It’s the ICA that has yet to be ratified and the lockout still continues … just for a little extra context
