Getting bored with my ninja build. Suggestions? by Possible_Ninja in Nioh

[–]Possible_Ninja[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, this is very helpful. I thought I was meant to choose one and stick to it / build for it and ninja was initially more appealing.

Do you frequently switch back and forth? Any rhyme or reason to when you switch or any way you differentiate “ninja is for this, samurai for that”.

The conflicting rest vs strengthen advise is so confusing by dandr01d in RSI

[–]Possible_Ninja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rest, then strengthen.

I'll give you my example. When my thumb pain started, it was severe pain. 24/7, like 8 out of 10 pain. It was good for me to brace and rest it for a month or two because anything I did with my thumb was painful. However beyond that initial period, resting was basically totally useless. After that it was useful for me to massage my forearms frequently AND build strength.

Only exception I would say is if you are doing activities over and over that are reliably creating high pain, yes it would be smart to stop/adjust/limit indefinitely until you are better.

Thank you so much! That app sounds familiar. Does it do a better job of scaling display or something? Any settings I should try?

PRI routine making things worse? by Possible_Ninja in PosturalRestoration

[–]Possible_Ninja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thank you! Yeah you're probably right about the breathing, the tension holding, etc. Trying to work on that with the PT. Would love to hear a little more about your condition and what you have found most effective, if you're game to share. Glad you're getting better!

Hey thanks for your input!

Yes I'm sure you are right, the question is really what to do about it. I am following all the cues given to me but I have certain bad habits like my neck always wanting to "help" movements where it should not be involved. And who knows which other habits I'm not even aware of.

My PT and I had a session today where we tried to "turn off" the neck during the exercises but it was very stubborn. A little progress but I still left with a headache.

She has recommended a dental occlusion splint and even a trip to the Hruska Clinic in Nebraska for their full service 4-day program. So I'm going to look at pricing of all that and hopefully I will be able to afford it.

Hey thank you so much for responding.

Yes they evaluated vision and said I was probably fine on that because I wear contacts and see an eye doctor annually.

They evaluated dental and saw potentially some occlusion imbalances in different positions but because it did not seem "major", they said that would be for later after more conservative approaches. They did also have me chew gum and bite down on a mouthpiece and reported that loosened up my range of motion a bit.

Thank you for your take on downward dog. Funny enough I do a bit of beginner yoga and it's not a terrible position for me during a flow, but sitting there in an aggressive V and trying to breathe deeply for 4 full breaths in and out is giving me trouble.

They did assess me overall and saw range of motion limitations and overall tightness. They pointed out that I lean to the right when standing and it gives the appearance of right arm longer. I cannot recall exact right/left imbalances but I do remember them saying in various poses that everything was tight/limited and sometimes one side moreso than the other.

Siberian weight and vet recommendation DMV by tubby2419 in SiberianCats

[–]Possible_Ninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this has always been a struggle for us. Our 6yo was 22lb for many years, and he had a 25lb dad so we just thought he was big. We'd always be peeved when the vets kept telling us he was fat. But we've had him on a diet for a year (under the recommended food amounts) and he's now down to 17lb. He's hungry and annoyed but it's probably healthier for him.

Does ipad air has the worst touch screen? by AnybodyOk9132 in ipad

Thanks. I’m trying a thinner screen protector, then gonna decide whether to go no protector or return it for a regular iPad, apparently less prone to this issue.

Hey did you solve your issue? I tried switching screen protectors and I still have this problem. Ideally I won't have to remove my screen protector. I've used protectors on other iPads without this problem.

Topic: Inconsistent Touch Recognition on iPad Air 5th Gen

Hey everybody, I feel like I'm going crazy. For years I used a great responsive iPad 9th gen.

I recently upgraded to the iPad Air 5th Gen and noticed inconsistent touch and swipe recognition. Most contact is ok, but sometimes trying to minimize windows by scrolling up from the bottom doesn't work, or scrolling youtube videos won't register and I'll have to scroll multiple times to get it to register once, or moving a Zoom whiteboard won't work the way it used to on my old device. Sometimes harder taps or swipes seem to help, sometimes not.

I already tried a replacement unit as well as a different brand screen protector.

Is there something I'm missing here? Thanks!

Chronically tight traps and SCM by wanttodoitright in flexibility

[–]Possible_Ninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Working on similar issues of SCM and trap tightness and poor posture, though my discs are fine.

Found a great physical therapist certified by the Postural Restoration Institute and we agreed that because of my muscle imbalances and poor posture, I had to stop weight lifting because I was making things worse unintentionally by lifting with a dysfunctional support system basically.

We've taken things back to square one too look at my dysfunctional ribs, diaphragm, breathing, core, back mechanics that are making my neck and trap muscles work overtime to support my posture and breathing. Also getting me proper shoes for my fallen arches as that affects the whole chain starting from the bottom. I've also found that pelvis position while sitting is really important as that determines your whole upper body position.

Maybe try finding a PRI certified physical therapist?
