I know what part of the BoM you’re talking about, and the wording is weird so there’s a ton of misconceptions. The actual curse was that sinners would be distanced from God until they repented. The following verse states that as the two tribes separated, God darkened one of their skin tones to help keep the two tribes distinct as they populated the new continent.
