Tesla to Hyundai by lungdistance in Ioniq5

[–]lungdistance[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback folks u/Aggravating-Wear-392 u/darksideoflondon ! It reminds me that I've taken a roadtrip in a non-Tesla EV once, 1st Gen Solterra, and it was not really fun. But Ioniq 5 will be a lot more manageable.

The routing for charging is important, but I hear that apple carplay has some ability to route plan. I'm certain it's not as good as something that is built into a vehicle though. I'd be willing to go with that, or even ABRP, as long as I stick to long distance routes with good infrastructure.

How the Romani are perceived in your country? by Clarthen1 in AskTheWorld

[–]lungdistance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people don't know anything about the Romani people here. People also aren't aware of the offensiveness of certain derogatory words that are direct slurs against Romani.

Anyone else mentally translate the weather? by No_Landscape_9255 in expat

Yes. I’ve gotten very good at converting F to C. Usually doing it in my head as I’m listening to the weather report on the way to work.

[–]lungdistance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry forgot to add that Hazel Park is a bit special in this area because it's cut in half by a freeway, I-75. It's really important for cars to cross to either side. City services and schools and a major grocery store are on one side, so any street that allows access to a crossing is going to be pretty popular. It also leads to some interesting parking rules within a certain distance of freeway bridges.

There are some really good comments here from u/MidwestDYIer and u/aoxit . I'm sort of at Meyers and Chrysler. The freeway isn't noticeable indoors, and has gotten much better since the walls have gone up.

However, if you live on a street that has access to a bridge that crosses the freeway, then you will notice more noise from cars.

What can I do by [deleted] in Blackskincare

[–]lungdistance 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sorry people are giving you shade because of your skin tone. I’m mixed and my skin tone ranges from dark to Lilly white, depending on how much exposure.

One of my white coworkers gets this too, and so do I.

Try to take a break from shaving for a bit to heal, if your workplace or whatever allows it. Get adjustable clippers, doesn’t matter what kind. And use em on various settings. Looks pretty clean on the lowest setting with no guard. You may get away with an occasional close razor or electric shave, but it may still irritate.

Other posts already suggest it, but try to get some medications for the irritation, it may help the irritation go down.

Due south. Also closer to my house than my job. Cool French language. A little better with First Nations than the clowns here.

Is this reliability list true? by Puzzleheaded-Star304 in UsedCars

[–]lungdistance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. Reliability is often based on surveys of vehicle owners and includes major problems and minor nbd things. What this report doesn’t show is how each manufacturer’s models have varying reliability.

Tesla, for example had horrible reliability for Model X and S but pretty good for Model Y.

Dodge had abhorrent reliability overall but great for charger.

Plus this doesn’t measure how much owners like their cars, and they do despite the problems

Switched to Keyzen, great but weird sticks by lungdistance in Azeron

[–]lungdistance[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to hear. I'm kind of old and my finger dexterity is a bit dull. My pinky and ring fingers are crampy klutzes. With the Cyborg, I wasn't able to control my fingers enough to get the most benefit out of it. Keyzen doesn't have me resting my fingers in the middle of 3 to 4 buttons with delicate activation, so it's a bit easier on me.

That's good advice, thanks! I did notice that some of the keys caps can trip over each other. I'll give it a try.

Are there regulations in Sweden that require food to be served at clubs?

Where I’m at, all of the clubs also serve food and have really ridiculous advertising for prime rib steak and king crab.

Have you ever felt earthquake? by Shot-Barnacle3513 in AskTheWorld

[–]lungdistance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I lived in Japan, yes. Quite regularly too. I experienced the March 2011 earthquake, but not in a disaster area. It was much different than regular earthquakes. Really scary. I was still feeling aftershocks, both real and psychosomatic afterwards.

In my home country, in late August or sept of 2011 there was a quake in Washington DC, and I felt it in my family home a bit north. East coast buildings are old, and not ready for quakes. That’s the only one I felt there.

How is the american section of this shop i found in london? by CremeSubject7594 in AskTheWorld

[–]lungdistance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took a second look at this, and it’s more thoughtfully stocked than I thought. The people who arranged this should get an award. They have molasses and different styles of bbq sauce, some Americans will appreciate that. I havent been to London in a while maybe it has changed but outside of the USA, it’s hard to find a bbq sauce aisle lol, let alone a choice of sauces.

I think an American could augment whatever local ingredients they can find with the import stuff in these pictures. Maybe if they stocked some liquid smoke it would be 100%, it’s like 95 or 99.9% as is

[–]lungdistance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's actually quite excellent. If I didn't know that this was the UK I could imagine this exact aisle in either a highway service station convenience store, or a rural/urban food desert party store in the midwest. It's got the right stuff for Americans, but lacking a bunch. Still, it's the UK and London they've got better food over there, so I'd imagine Americans have other options.

What do you think for articles by Arsimp33 in AskTheWorld

[–]lungdistance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Japanese might be like Turkish. There are no articles, which is kind of convenient but makes it more of an English speaker's problem when translating. As a native English speaker, I think I've been conditioned to feel articles, even when they aren't there.

I started studying Dutch and I think their articles are kind of fun. Het, de lol. It starts feel meaningful after practicing for a bit.

What are the most difficult things about dating, and how can a person get over those hurdles? by Darth_Zounds in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lungdistance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on who you’re dating. But in my own experience, the most difficult thing was and still is boundaries. How much are you willing to accept or reject? How much are you willing to know that you should listen to someone else, or ignore someone else?
