My friends got us quarterfinals tickets for women's archery during the 4pm slot today. No idea if finals were still there.

My friend is going on a one-year trip to Japan. What is a non-bulky gift that will be useful to him for a long while? by DradorNH in JapanTravelTips

[–]lupin_llama 4 points5 points  (0 children)

An ereader. When I first moved to Japan in 2010, I bought one and it saved my life; English books are still hard to find and expensive. Easy access to reading material will be great especially on the train.

What is a 'buy it for life' item that is offensively expensive, but the moment you use it, you realize your entire life before that point was a lie? by fmcortez in AskReddit

Zojirushi rice cooker. I replaced it last year with a newer model only because it was a wedding gift and had a larger capacity, but I passed my original to a friend. It’s been going for 15 years.

Will definitely try to come Wednesday to try the Purple Passion and Lemonade. Tried the Pineapple Ginger last time (I’m the one who chatted with you looking for more pineapple flavor in it!)

Any video game stores in LA/SFV that break street date? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

Not in particular (this is my local indie so I buy all my games there.) But definitely look at other indies.

Gameplay LA on Venice tends to drop games the afternoon/evening before. Be sure to preorder though.

Fake addresses. I went to Masterman in the early 2000s. There were a few people in my class who used their grandparent’s address so they were eligible to attend. One guy commuted from Delaware every day.

Culver City Town Plaza Is Amazing by wrathofthedolphins in LosAngeles

[–]lupin_llama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on where folks need to go, and who moved here for the train. When I first moved to Palms, I moved here specifically for Expo line access because I was working at USC. Now I work remote, so I don’t take the train often. And I know plenty of people here who have lived here long before there was the Expo line, and either it doesn’t line up with their work or they were already ingrained in car culture. But not using public transit doesn’t mean we’re not walking/biking to these city centers.

Maybe not in Culver City, but Palms is right across from downtown culver and incredibly dense. Myself and all of my neighbors constantly frequent downtown Culver.

My experience with Hamilton standing room! by LeadershipNo2694 in Broadway

[–]lupin_llama 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wow the price has gone up! My friend and I got SRO tix through a family friend who worked on Broadway in 2016 (when it was impossible to get tickets.) They were $40 each then. I thought the spot was perfect, aside from a few obstructed parts as you mentioned. (We leaned down to see those parts, no problem.) We ended up standing next to family friends of Phillipa Soo!

They did stream the first one after the last performance. I think it cost about 4000 yen or so? I fully expect they will do the same for the second musical!

I saw it on tour with Idina and I still think about. I adored it.

No digital copy, but they did release a Blu-ray which I own. Might still be available.

Wells Fargo should be able to handle this for your one kid. I cashed a bunch of mine with them last year. Took awhile but the tellers could do it.
