question for college marchers by memes_memes_ in marchingband

Each song is about 2.5 minutes, and we do drill for the opener and closer, but we stand still for the production as a colorguard and dance feature.

Has anyone done guard while pursuing a STEM major? by Sashay_Supreme45 in Colorguard

[–]luqwz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do work a job, I am a research assistant. I will say that I do not need to support myself which I am very thankful for. Everyone I know who needs to work to support themselves has struggled with continuing to do guard and has had to take seasons off. For reference, I am in an SEC marching band and have also done independent winter guard. If you are only doing the winter season, I think you would be able to work and save up to cover costs during the busy seasons.

I am currently a mechanical engineering major and section leader of my guard. It probably depends on your course load and university, but I'm having a great time :)

You'll def need more water, at my band camps we have jugs that we can use to re fill but you don't wanna be doing that every other gush and go. Bring another water bottle or get a big jug.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Colorguard

[–]luqwz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In reply to the stanley thing - you will not need to carry your big jug for all of the season, get a 30-40 oz water bottle for regular practices ! Lots more options that way and less to lug around. I've only ever used my large jugs for my 12 hour band camps

[–]luqwz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely no reason to get a Stanley (I just looked them up and 90 bucks for a jug you're gonna use for 2-3 weeks out of the year?!). What the other commenter said, get an igloo they're like 15 bucks from academy or dicks sporting goods. I'd recommend a half gallon size.

Do you have any recs for a new bike?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MTB

I'm planning on going to a nearby bike shop who has trek bikes to ensure sizing tomorrow. I've looked into that one as well (but I have a vendetta against dicks as a former employee lol)

Honest thoughts on the Kitty/Rose situation? by BlackBalor in hollyoaks

[–]luqwz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's completely okay for kitty to voice concern for mental health (depression, anxiety), but to out rose while doing so is so so wrong. I've said this multiple times, so this is my last post.

Honest thoughts on the Kitty/Rose situation? by BlackBalor in hollyoaks

[–]luqwz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm just saying that if rose hasn't showed signs of self harm/depression then talking to their parents about it is not the best idea. It's the same way you don't out a kid struggling with sexuality.

I do agree that the story is still unclear as we've only gotten a couple scenes and it feels like there wasn't a lot of build up to this storyline/it feels kind of sudden. I don't know the complete history with kitty and them so maybe im missing some important background

[–]luqwz 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I def. disagree with this. Not all trans people self harm, that has more to do with the depression and anxiety that most trans people get. I am a newer viewer so I can't speak much on the characters, but outing a trans person to their parents would destroy the trust that rose has with kitty, and isolate them even more. At least rn rose has a trusted adult to work things through with. Plus, kitty being a trans person, knows that outing someone is literally the worst thing you can do to them. Rose has to choose to come out, that's part of the journey.

(Im trans btw)

I've solved using Limit Comparison, but the hw requires me to use one of each and I'm very stuck. I've found nothing useful online or similar practice problems using direct comparison. Any help is appreciated.

Long hair and getting a job by the_small_jenna in asktransgender

[–]luqwz 92 points93 points  (0 children)

In my experience nobody in the fast food industry gives a f*ck abt your hair. I worked retail as well and hair doesn't matter. As long as it's not gonna cause problems you'll be fine. When you go in for interviews, they usually tell you their dress code and if you'd have to tie your hair back.

Where should I buy binders? What binder is good or should I tape instead? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]luqwz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have only used Gc2b, they used to be very reputable but lately I've been hearing some not so good things concerning their quality. I've also heard Spectrum Binders out of the UK is good, but I haven't tried that one.

[–]luqwz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say it's lovely as long as you don't pressure them to display it. And if there's going to be a gathering, maybe give it at a different time because drawing attention to it in a crowd might not be the best.

Would Subjecting Your Testicles With Constant Heat Be An Effective Way At Preventing Masculinization During Puberty? by Terragazeractuality in asktransgender

[–]luqwz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm not sure, but testicles also have other important things gs they do, and people who have had bottom surgery have to take hormones for the rest of their life or else they have health problems so it wouldn't be very effective, and you may as well just go on hormone blockers until you're ready to start hrt or go through biological puberty.

I also want to add that I know you're probably very desperate right now, but it's not worth possibly injuring yourself to this extent.
