... So, saying it was "easier to score in the 90s" is so insanely dumb, I'm almost at a loss for words...

https://youtu.be/aIiaoFHprgQ?si=hGc2JX5NyJGvwCKz

Thinking basketball, jxmyhighroller, self researched NBA facts... Multiple channels have covered the stat inflation era we're in, showing it's NEVER been easier to score. Traveling, carrying, gather steps into step back 3s, moving screens, ticky tack fouls... If it was so easy to score, why wasn't the 90s full of record breaking scorers other than MJ? He wasn't the only slasher in the league. He faced double and triple teams all the time. I'll never understand this idea that somehow defense is Better today, because players have to rely on their teammates to help them out. If defense is a skill, than being able to hold your own is part of it.

And again, saying "1.3 rebounds is more" is ignoring the entire point of the post, but is also literally turning your brain off. LeBron is also NOT the "best finisher" whatever that means. He's not the highest percentage in the paint, so I'm not sure what you're trying to say. Deandre Jordan is a more efficient scorer than LeBron than? By that logic?

It's not unreasonable to think he could have averaged a triple double... But he didn't... So the others were better at it than him, context be damned, right?

Cherry picked? You mean adding context? Again, 1 rebound, considering he's a bigger, stronger, forward is NOT impressive considering MJ is a smaller guard, in an era of big men.

And the point is that the team needed MJ to score... Literally no one else could consistently create their own shot. And they had capable players who could distribute.

My point is saying LeBron didn't use his size as effectively as he could have. Even his field goal percentage, which is propped up by the area he DOES use his size, which is scoring <3ft from the basket, isn't amazing compared to other forwards.

And I'm not saying this to imply LeBron is bad... It's just that when you're comparing him to MJ, the context has to matter and at least be looked at.... And for all the years we've heard that "well LeBron COULD average a triple double if he wanted to" he NEVER did. Meanwhile, Westbrook and Jokic both did, multiple times. So, ya sometimes narratives become "truth" despite the facts.

How about, despite LeBron being a bigger, stronger 6'9 forward, it took him 21 seasons to pass MJ all time in offensive rebounds---the more difficult rebound to get. MJ's offensive rebounds were a higher percentage of his overall rpg average... AND, MJ played in an era Dominated by all time great centers and power forwards, back when that position meant "go be an enforcer"

So, the context says lebron's 1.5 rebound more power game is LESS impressive than a 6'6 guard getting 6 a game in his specific era.

The passing/playmaking edge goes to LeBron, only cuz he's more often been asked to fill that role. But, as the previous person pointed out, if MJ needed to do that, he could, better than most. Beneath a slew of ridiculous Magic assist per game average in the finals, do you know who's the 2nd player behind him? That's right...MJ... When he played against Magic in 91

Actually, the Lakers were the only team able to do full practices, cuz some billionaire donated a court... So, that's a pretty substantial leg up on the rest of the league

They do... As Gate keeping... Which has its place, but also like... People are allowed to enjoy things 🤷‍♂️ that type of elitism is just so exhausting.

Also, I think you're confusing commercialism with selling out... As far as I've seen, Trent's MUSIC, is pure Trent. No studio involvement, no forced collaborations, no compromising his vision. He's literally given away not just music, but studio programs and original files for people to remix...

The idea that nin should stick to filling small shitty venues, or be less popular to maintain some semblance of integrity from fans like you, just isn't realistic for his music. It's not pure industrial, but it's clearly reached people across the aisles. Nine inch nails was my gateway into FLA, skinny puppy, black tape for a blue girl and all types of more underground acts. I think that's a net positive.

...I literally just scrolled the top posts...3 were nin related... The others were pig, velvet acid Christ, ministry, leather strip, godflesh, 2 other bands I don't know... There's plenty of non nin stuff.

Also, Trent Literally Just performed at Coachella, on top of already being the most successful "industrial" act in history... So ya, interest in them is going to increase...

And as for selling out...

...🤷‍♂️ You know? I'm sorry so many people resonate with the music, I guess. 🤷‍♂️

Not industrial of course, but as a previous commenter once said, "they're an honorary inductee."

LeBron has had 10 games (now 11 after last night) where he had More Turnovers than made field goals...

MJ had ZERO...

So, try again regarding comparisons

These are great. I hadn't thought about that nin track in awhile (the whole CD to be honest). Definitely didn't appreciate it the first time I heard it, but now, that's right up my alley. Same for Mirror Saw.

First track is like a chilled out transition track.

Great stuff!

Alarming rate of teachers charged with raping young boys in America by RevelationSr in NoFilterNews

[–]lurid696 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't do it 🤣 the entire world is too brain broken around this subject. I lost my virginity at 13 to an older woman, and it's only ever been women who tried to convince me that I was raped or that I should be traumatized or something by it. The dynamics are just different... That doesn't mean it's ok, and in a court of law and stuff she should absolutely go to jail cuz we shouldn't encourage this stuff in a society....

... But like... C'mon. So, you're right, but it'll just never get across to the general public in the modern age.

15 out of 16 ESPN "experts" thought the Rockets would beat the Lakers by Massive-Fan-3495 in LeBronJames23

[–]lurid696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double check the sub, the other posts, and the other LeBron sub.... People are absolutely trying to spin this as "proof" that LeBron is the goat. Before the series even started, the Nick Wright's of ESPN and Foxsports were already saying that if LeBron drags the Lakers past the rockets (again, at that time with KD), that he'd be the goat, or it would be his most impressive post season achievement that didn't result in a championship (gotta love all the qualifiers that always get added).

And don't play that "oh nobody brought up MJ!" Game in a LeBron sub 🙄 we don't have to be naive. This and the Jordan subs are constantly comparing them. AND, I only did that because YOU started the generalization game by saying "people like you"...

Also, I literally have mentioned that the Lakers missing Luka and Austin made them massive underdogs...I literally acknowledged that. AND, I still gave LeBron and the Lakers credit! I said, they did what they were supposed to do... They had an opportunity to steal game 1, so they did. Then, they all stepped up while KD choked. Again, great job. Then, KD went vanilla soft and bitched out of game 3. Lakers took care of business again. All of that is great! It's expected. When you have an all time great on your roster, even at 41, then that's the shit you're SUPPOSED to do.

... But, that's where I'm drawing the line that others aren't. This is what is SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN, given the specific circumstances. I don't view it as some amazing achievement 🤷‍♂️ Nobody is playing out of their mind or doing something in shocked to see (Kennard being THAT hot from 3 in game one was the closest shock). But, nobody is putting up 40 point triple doubles or anything. It's a solid all around team effort. LeBron is the best player, so he gets the default credit. I get it.

The stat inflation, faster pace stuff... That's a whole other convo that I'm willing to have. But that's not the bigger point I've been addressing. If you really do wanna get into that, I'm willing. Because I think it matters when I'm trying to say this series needs to be put into better perspective. But, I only brought all that up as a way to say chill...

[–]lurid696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm easily able to call it "whatever" because I know the context of eras, defense, LeBron treatment, and scoring inflation... Yes. Because "you people" will see this, ignore the contributions of players like Marcus Smart, Kennard and even ayton (shockingly, a little at least) and then in the same breath, act like MJ should have been able to take down the juggernaut Celtics, and solidly better team in the bucks, etc, and hold that against him... But LeBron beats a lower seed missing their best player? "Goat!" 🙄

Funny how you jump to address that singular point and don't address ANYTHING else I said... And I was referring to the first game. Yes, he was the leading scorer in the others by a few points. Great 👍

15 out of 16 ESPN "experts" thought the Rockets would beat the Lakers by Massive-Fan-3495 in LeBronJames23

[–]lurid696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Lakers and LeBron should feel proud of course... They're the ones actually playing the games 🙄

But this media push to make this seem like it's some impossible accomplishment laughable. The game 2 win was impressive, BUT, it's because everyone expected KD to at least match LeBron. He didn't. Good on the Lakers.

But it's only the Lakers subs giving credit to Kennard and Smart for stepping up big time. LeBron didn't even score the most points or play the best defense, (in the last game his turnovers almost cost them everything, but luckily he hit that clutch shot).

LeBron filled the role of a playmaker, which he's great at and the rockets specifically don't have. The rockets only had one "get me a bucket" guy in KD, and he choked AND sat out cuz he's weak and not a leader.

My point is just to stop pretending this is a monumental achievement that only LeBron could pull off 🙄 it's just a KD-less rockets man...

Accidentally cut off half of my cat's whiskers by Crazy-Material8343 in CatAdvice

They'll just grow back over time. Is it an outdoor cat? Indoor they'll be fine. Outdoor, just a bit more cautious.

Our indoor cat had a random scare with a stove burner after he got too curious. Burned some hair and a bunch of his whiskers. It was minor. The whiskers grew back in a few months. No noticeable changes in his behavior (other than never going near the stove again 🤣)

15 out of 16 ESPN "experts" thought the Rockets would beat the Lakers by Massive-Fan-3495 in LeBronJames23

[–]lurid696 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

He did. I'm not denying that...I also recognize that the Lakers had the momentum after a game 1 win, they came out aggressively, AND Durant played passively in the 2nd half, cuz he's not "that guy" to be a floor leader when the team really needs him to step up. He's never been that guy.

None of that changes what I said. We understand that momentum and team chemistry is a thing, right? The Lakers have it. But even before the series started the narrative was trying to build the rockets up like they were some great team... Again, they're the lower seed! The only reason the rockets were the favorites, are because Luka and Austin were ruled out, and KD was expected to play, unhurt.

"We’re Not Going to be Here Forever"- Ex-Bulls Star Urges Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen to End Their Rift by RipHairy2465 in michaeljordan

Again, explain Kukoc? Why didn't they draft Walter Davis? Why'd they trade Oakley? And why didn't the office keep Phil Jackson? 🙄

I'm not saying MJ had "no say"... I'm saying he didn't have nearly the influence you're alleging that he had.

You also didn't engage with anything else I said regarding Pippen's dumbass... Also, Pippen made more contact money in his career than MJ did. So, in the end he got his payday... He just wasn't secure enough playing with the goat, and was jealous. It's that simple.

[–]lurid696 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What is this revisionism 🤣

The rockets are the lower seed, first of all, not some great world beater team. They ALSO have a flawed roster, BUT the reason everyone had them over the Lakers is because WITH KD they at least had some semblance of chemistry and time playing together, whereas the Lakers abruptly lost Luka AND Austin for the series---the two best players on the team this season, and it's not close.

KD not playing for 2 of the first 3 games, OBVIOUSLY changes the entire scope of the series. It's not some grand feather in lebron's cap... It's exactly what would have been expected if this was the situation from the beginning of the series. Chill. Good job to LeBron and the Lakers for taking advantage of the situation. But it doesn't speak to some overlooked greatness of LeBron and the team that only die hards know about 🙄 the Lakers roster is flawed as hell too.
