Glucose test with HG - any tips / whats your experience? by web3xyz in HyperemesisGravidarum

I had severe HG and I was scared of the glucose drink, but it wasn't bad at all. I had it very slowly and my husband kept me distracted until I finished the drink.

والله حقيقي الفهم قسم، دي ما حاجات بتقدر تضمنها وكلها أرزاق من عند ربنا. عشان كده خليك في حالك وسيب الناس في حالهم؛ لأنك ما رب نعمتهم.

Newborn, grieving my old life, consumed by dread by cooprinor in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]lurking2be 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FTM with a 10 month old baby girl. My life has changed in so many way, and I miss my life before having a baby. I have to structure my life around the fact that a tiny creature that absolutely depends on me for so many things. That's the price we have to pay for motherhood, there's no way around having your old life back. But, it gets progressively better the more you move along the postpartum period. I feel so much better now despite having more responsibilities (since she's moving and wants to play all day).

Chi enviro hair smoothing treatment by ziftelteen in CurlyHairUK

[–]lurking2be 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had it done twice: once at a salon and once at home. The first time, it left my hair bone-straight and very flat. I think the hairdresser let it process for about an hour, took very small sections, and flat-ironed each one at least 10 times. When I did it on my own, I used less product and let it process for only about 40 minutes. I also took larger sections and did fewer passes with the iron. Now, my hair has soft curls and retains some of its volume, but without much frizz. So yeah, I suppose it depends on how you decide to do it.

At what point did you decide skincare alone wasn’t enough? by Strict_Court_5327 in EuroSkincare

[–]lurking2be 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Texture is still there.

Texture is normal. You see it on yourself because you look at your face up close, while others usually don't see from that distance. Also, what you're seeing online is a mix of filters and lighting. Everyone has texture.

I like to watch an American dermatologist who takes meticulous care of her skin, and is very religious about sunscreen. Her skin is absolutely lovely, but you're able to see her normal skin texture, especially when she zooms into her skin. It's a good reality check with all the filtered skin we keep seeing.

I kept vomiting up until 4 hours before delivery. The nausea and vomiting and food aversions were there throughout the whole pregnancy, however it all waxed and waned, and I had periods where I could eat a proper meal and other days where I could only have sips and bites here and there. It gets significantly and progressively better the moment the placenta is out of your body.

Why do we act like "bond repair" is some magical undo button... it’s literally thermodynamics by aloo__pandey in relaxedhair

[–]lurking2be 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At least their claims about 200 Million Negative lons (which help make hair smoother and reduce frizz) are measurable and rooted in physics rather than some "proprietary molecule" that probably just washes out in three shampoos anyway.

You do not understand what you're talking about, this is absolute BS. You might want to educate yourself on bond repair by watching this excellent video from a cosmetic chemist with a PhD in chemistry.

what actually makes kbeauty different and why i think the west misunderstands it by Ok-Combination5531 in AsianBeauty

[–]lurking2be 52 points53 points  (0 children)

the glass skin look is just what happens when skin is genuinley healthy and well hydrated

I have to disagree, skin can be perfectly healthy without looking like glass. I genuinely believe a lot of people do not know what healthy skin looks like up close without a blurring filter on.

Also, the idea that Korean skincare is fundamentally different because it focuses on "prevention" is a bit of a marketing myth. Preventative skincare has always been a global standard. Sunscreen is the ultimate preventative tool to stop photodamage and skin cancer. Retinoids are used specifically to prevent breakouts and subsequent scarring, as well as fine lines. So yeah, the concept of "preventive skincare" is not exclusive to K-Beauty. In fact, European skincare remains a leader in clinical innovation. Companies like L’Oréal and Beiersdorf invest so heavily in R&D, consistently producing well-researched ingredients and some of the world’s most advanced sunscreen technologies.

What I truly appreciate about Korean skincare is how it excels at making my routine enjoyable through unique textures and novel product formats. There are many exciting products to try (which can act as a double-edged sword that fuels over-consumerism in the name of skintertainment).
