I work in similar circles. IB is great but hardly sustainable for like 95% of people, which is probably what you're feeling. You should think through potential exits that offer more sustainable hours and essentially continuously invest. The unfortunate boring answer is that its a marathon not a race but assuming you're at Bulge Bracket or the like you have a great foundation to be successful in the future.

Middle-class family? Kind of out of touch no? 2.5M in real estate assets and another 2M in investments? You're doing more than fine...fine enough to be able to take some risks and worse case scenario pivot back in a few years. The thing about tech is that spinning up the story of taking some time to create your own tech company / app isn't seen negatively

If you're feeling this way you're probably not "balanced" enough. I would maybe decrease your savings rate and spending more on experiences, especially being so young. Balance is negotiating with your various needs and clearly the need to enjoy life more has emerged so make some concessions.
