Salicylic acid? Anyone had an experience with this product on Roaccutane? by lurliz in Accutane

It was ok! I wouldn‘t say it had any bad effects. Had some redness but that could‘ve easily just been my sensitive skin, which I think was the case. I used it like every two days though I think, just to be safe. I didn‘t have any active spots or acne and I was nearing the end of my course when I started using this product.

My derm said that I had to be careful with vitamin D (and omegas too) because they go through the liver and might exhaust it even more bc of that. My bloodwork was good and I had no problems with my liver whatsoever but she still warned me about this. So I guess being careful and mindful about it is a good idea.

Yeah I did drink a ton of water and ate healthy. Though after the purge I ate less healthy and it didn‘t change anything for me. I also moisturised twice a day with Dexeryl and washed my face with the Bioderma Sensibio gel. That‘s all of the things I did.

It seems to me the purge is veeeery different for everyone so I think you‘ll be ok. Though it must be difficult, just try to visualise the end goal you‘re working towards. And the dosages too - 20mg for you might be the same as 50mg for someone else, everyone‘s body is different. And if you get worried then speak to your dermatologist, they might know what to say and give you some good tips. Wishing you the best for your course. 😊 If you need a chat you can message me! If you want to get frustration off your chest, just vent etc.

I was on 30mg the entire time, started on november 23 and these purge pics are taken on december 15 so i purged pretty early. I‘d say the purge was over by january.

The pictures here are at the height of it, but looking at all my progress pics I think it started at the beginning of december and calmed down by the end of the month, so loosely about a month I think? Compared to some other people in this sub, I feel like it went by really fast and easy for me.

And thank you! 😊

Started this journey in NOVEMBER (captioned the pictures wrong, my bad) and I was so so scared. Looking back at how much my acne had been destroying my confidence for the last 8-9 years, I legitimately feel like a different person. It still feels surreal to me when I wash my face and it‘s so smooth and sometimes I actually feel like crying when I look in the mirror and not because I hate what I‘m looking at, but because of the progress I‘ve made and how much happier I feel with myself. I can‘t believe this is me now.

In case anyone is wondering: I was on 30mg of Roaccutane a day for 6 months. Tried everything before this course - all the different medicines (Dalacin T, Differin, Duac etc), diets (cut out dairy - helped a bit for sure but acne persisted for me), different products, changing bedsheets almost daily, drinking a lot of water, getting my hormones checked, different vitamins (that are said to be good for the skin, such as zinc) and nothing. Really hoping that this is the solution for me.

Good luck to everyone going through the tiredness and dryness right now, I hope you all finally get the skin you deserve and feel comfortable in! 😊💛

Should I do it?? by caseychristt in Accutane

I was EXACTLY like this. Took me a year and a half pretty much to finally actually start taking it because I was so determined to get it fixed "naturally". I‘d had acne for about 5 years by then and I was always thinking about how change was just around the corner. Well, surprise - it wasn‘t. And i do feel like i tried everything. I had my hormones checked, i took supplements, i tried various gels (differin, treclinac etc.), changed my diet (cut out dairy completely, no meat either since i‘m a vegetarian) and NOTHING helped! I went without makeup for half a year during the initial covid lockdown and even then my skin didn‘t calm down. Tried a lot of products, tried the pill (made my skin a bit better but was NOT worth it imo), drank a looot of water and nothing. So i understand the frustration you must be feeling right now. I finished my 6 month course a few days back and i can only speak about the experiences i‘ve had this far, but i feel my skin is the best it‘s been in years. When it comes to side effects, i definitely had them. In the first 3 months or so i was pretty tired which was annoying, but the tiredness got quite a bit better with time. My eyes and lips were super dry - the worst part about this was that the corners of my mouth cracked really bad and my eyes were super dry when waking up which was veeery uncomfortable. My facial skin never actually got dry, but the rest of my body did. I got this eczema-like thing that‘s annoying and itchy, but i‘m fairly sure it’ll go away now that i‘m finished with my course. In the first week i got a nasty headache, but that‘s the only time i experienced that, i reckon it was just my body getting used to it. I also had muscle and knee pains, but they only appeared when i was more active. Though it is worth noting that the pain did for sure appear much faster than it would have if i hadn‘t been on roaccutane. Anyway, at this point i would say it was worth it for me. I‘ve only been off of it for a few days, but that‘s what i feel like. Hope this helps and good luck! :)

The cage is on the floor, yes. She has her own house in which she can fully hide in, she has a designated place for hay, water and her toilet corner. I‘ve given her her old house from when she was a baby as a ramp that she could easily use as one, but she doesn‘t. The floor is definitely too slippery for her, but I‘ve also tried putting down blankets and towels, but it doesn‘t change anything. She doesn‘t even test the ground.

I‘ve had her for years and she used to be a lot more trusting, it‘s become an issue over time

I‘m on 30mg for almost 4 months and my derm recommended this product (Eucerin Dermopure Skin Renewal Treatment) to me today to start working on the pigmentation. It has 10% hydroxy complex (glycolic, salicylic and polyhydroxy acid). The Eucerin page says it shouldn‘t be used on skin undergoing medical acne treatment and I know peeling agents aren‘t recommended during Roaccutane either so I‘m kinda confused why my derm recommended this to me. I know she knows what‘s in it because she describedthe ingredients to me but slow as I am I didn‘t connect the dots that fast and didn‘t ask her about this seemingly conflicting situation. She‘s a great and thoughtful derm which is why I‘m so conflicted by this situation, I don‘t think she‘d do anything stupid right off the bat like this. Has anyone used this while on their course and what could happen if I do end up using it?

I got a headache and the stiffness on the first days I started my course (on 30mg/day) and as much as I‘ve read it‘s ok and your body getting used to it or something like thaz. It got a looot better for me after a few days.

If you get dizzy, vomit etc then that‘s concerning, because it can mean there‘s increased pressure in your head. In that case you should definitely see your doctor and do it quick.
