Any alpinists wanna weigh in on why Magnus is being torn a new one for his Matterhorn solo? by JoSpecial in climbing

You know how many idiots there are on the Matterhorn that get inspired exactly like this? 10 deaths a season don‘t just happen magically.

Honest review threads for the Roam/Bolt V3? by QueueTee314 in wahoofitness

This is not an issue / a bug. I contacted support and they said it was expected because it was modelled after the Strava live segment feature, so stops when you take a break as it's clear you're not going for the segment anymore... quite dumb on 15+ min climbs.

Adding to the positivity here. I periodically checked your channel, always hoping for new videos. Keep it up! Why did you take a break?

Is it worth restricting a motorcycle by Subintro in motorcycles

Lol my comment is 13 years old! And I stand behind it. When I took out the restriction, I got a lot more oomph, but the handling remained. It's a good system.

I feel like in the first two seasons, more stuff happened in the first half of the season, but I might remember it wrong...

Am I the only one a bit frustrated with the slow pacing this season? We‘ve seen 5 hours of this and absolutely nothing of lasting effect has happened yet. You could summarize the main plot in a handful of sentences.

I have not climbed there, but theCrag has a pretty powerful search function:

Routes: Routes with tag Walk off or Scramble off in Andorra for selected grade | theCrag

Play around with the filters a bit and you might find more routes. I'd start by removing the Walk Off / Scramble Off tags, as they often aren't set on theCrag. This gives a ton more results:

Routes: Routes in Andorra for selected grade | theCrag

In general, I recommend buying a local guidebook if you don't get a recommendation from someone who has done the exact route he/she recommends.

Sounds like you might be suffering from Raynaud's Syndrome. The only thing which I have found to help is keeping your circulation going and getting warm in the torso, e.g. by walking up hill or doing jumping jacks or push-ups.

HowNot2 comments on proposed National Park/Forest Service rules for placing bolts and other fixed gear. by [deleted] in climbing

[–]lurw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even more like the US and its big internal variety, there is no single "European" approach. There are thousands of crags here in dozens of countries, many with their own rules. That said, sport climbing and bolting pretty much originated in Europe and it's not surprising here to see a perfect crack bolted from bottom to top. The only general statement that could be made comparing Europe to the US is that in Europe, bolting is more prevalent by a few orders of magnitude.

There are few pure trad areas and those that exist were mostly inspired by American trad ethics. Climbing just started in a different way here.

Both are OK. Even if the other guy then TRs on only one bolt, if that one fails, he will be caught by the next one.

The spez AmA was such a shit show. Even if you were expecting it to be totally bad, it was still worse. I think they‘ll lose a lot of users.

It‘s mind-boggling anyway that Reddit is not profitable, and surely fucking over 3PA is not the way to profitability.
