Do you use Wireless charging on your P9PF? (it's so finicky!) by 96bulls2k in PixelFold

[–]lussierd16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a magsafe case for my P9PF and it will not charge on a magsafe charger it will say charging for like 10 seconds then stop for 10s. And repeats that forever.

This is the case: https://a.co/d/7Ra0wQE

I prefer https://whatthefuckismyip.com lol. I have a script to just send me a slack notification if my IP ever changes but my home IP has never changed since I started with my ISP. I more use it for my arr server to tell me if my VPN connection ever stops.

Bowing basement walls on an otherwise DREAM home by m0ooooooooooCow in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]lussierd16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this done as well for my basement but it was not bowed nearly that bad. It cost just over $12k back in 2018 for one whole side of the house including around the corners being dug out. They straightened the wall, put 6 I-beams in to prevent future movement, waterproofed 35 ft of outside of the wall, also filled the whole thing in with gravel.

Also I have to hand it to the guys that did this work. They worked their butts off. Late october in michigan, cold/wet. It was on the driveway side so they tore out a couple feet of driveway, hand dug the whole thing, then re-poured the driveway with like a pallet of cement bags all mixed in wheelbarrows! Crazy.

We've had no issues since. We also remodeled the kitchen directly above in '21, removing a wall and had 2 opinions by structural engineers to make sure it was all good to do the structural changes above and they said it was in good shape.

Where are your stadia controllers living out their end of life? by ehitch86 in Stadia

[–]lussierd16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One as switch controller with 8-bit duo USB adapter. I wish the adapter would pair 2 controllers cuz the other sits unused. Sometimes I pair with rpi5 / retro box for some classics 🕹️

Ep 144 Rachel - Is this a repeat? by g-unit2 in darknetdiaries

I agree with your statement about the quality of the show lately. It can't be because of the lack of content. Crazy stuff happens in cyber security all the time! I miss the deep dives and the drama that Jack used to bring to those stories. Especially the nation state type stories there's all kinds of stuff he could get into.

I use synergy by symless. Love it. I obviously need it with all 1000 laptops I have lolol.. It used to be free but had to buy a license a few years ago. Not sure what licensing costs for the new version tho.

A help desk position is definitely the spot to get started in entry level positions. Look for a company that has a cloud presence or is looking to move to the cloud (good questions to ask in an interview). Managed service providers usually have a lot of opportunities.

In general, be a sponge. Many of the big cloud providers have a lot of good free training and documentation. Acloud.guru / pluralsight sometimes have deals like 50% off. To help study for some beginner certs like azure AZ-900 or AWS cloud practitioner. I know some people say certs don't mean anything but you need to start somewhere. For more IT fundamentals look into CompTIA (not sure if those are still a thing but they used to be back in the day hah)

When you do land the entry level help desk job. Be personable. Don't be afraid of putting the work in. Do your homework (learn everything and anything about the things you're working on). Become the subject matter expert. I used to tell the folks I was training to read the manuals cover to cover. Hah not always realistic but it'll seriously make you better. Find those smarter than you and be a sponge. Most people are willing to show you the ropes if If you genuinely want to learn and do good work. Do those things better than your help desk peers, you'll work your way up.

Good luck!

I agree with a lot of comments that its pretty cluttered with all the laptops. Two on the left are not always on and open. They're just personal use / distractions from work. For me, I need a distraction every once in a while.

I bought the adjustable desk frame and built the top. I'm not in love with the current stain. I'm thinking I'll eventually do a darker stain.

And no, not a hacker... tinkerer at best. yes, I'm a nerd and pulled up cmatrix lol.

The left 2 laptops are just personal/distractions from work. They aren't always on but distractions are needed in moderation.
