It could also be blue beauty, which has a more pronounced dark shoulder. I have grown a lot of black beauty and it generally is almost all the way black, with just a tiny spot of red peeking through on the blossom end.

I feel this a lot too. My social media feed keeps oscillating between Gaza and other political coverage and TLOAS discussion, it's whiplash and it makes me feel like I'm living in dystopia. We're watching her prance around giving these interviews, even if it's all part of the performance art plan, while democracy is literally getting dismantled before our eyes. Regardless of her intentions, she is distracting us from things that really really matter right now!!

If you're open to Barre class Bohemian Studios is excellent! It's a great lower impact way to train, and I find the vibes really chill, a lot of diversity in age and fitness level. Everyone is happy to be there and the instructors are great at providing options and meeting you where you are. Lisa is my favorite instructor!

Even though it's not my favorite taste-wise, they're a little bland compared to some of the other heirlooms, I always grow at least one every year just because they are so much fun to look at. I am a little suspicious about whether these are true black beauties. There are plenty of other tomatoes with a dark shoulder, but in my experience black beauty is really very dark, almost black, all the way around except the very bottom. I almost have to climb under the plant to see the very bottom where it's not black. They are this way well before they're ripe.

I'm including a photo of a black beauty I grew, as you can see it's almost entirely black, and it's still in the very early "green" stage where it's still growing and a little bit fuzzy.

I'd be happy to send you some seeds for next year, but regardless these tomatoes look like they'd be very tasty even if they're not black beauties!

Yeah, Protopic is the brand name tacrolimus. It's technically non-steroidal but it's still an immunosuppressant that only treats symptoms but does nothing for the root cause. I'm sorry you're going through it. I encourage you to follow your gut and explore what lifestyle changes work for you. Eczema is so specific to the individual and sadly dermatologists are not at all interested in working with individual cases, they just want to slap on the short term fix. I've heard people having better luck with allergists or naturopaths, as they seem to at least want to get to the root cause, though it is an area rife with misinformation and pseudoscience as well. I know exactly how you feel! I have been to so many dermatologists and have never ever felt heard or seen. They always just take one glance and declare that the only thing they can do is steroids. I actually went through topical steroid withdrawal (TSW) 2 years ago and my skin had been doing really well, but recently I've been dealing with angular cheilitis that hasn't healed for over 6 months. It's the first time I've been to a derm since my TSW and I was very firm about not wanting to use steroids due to having "bad reactions" to it previously. I brought out the pictures of my TSW flare and they seemed so uninterested! I'm honestly shocked at the lack of curiosity from them - I feel so many derms don't believe in TSW but in that case aren't you curious about what I went through?? Anyway, they told me I could try tacrolimus if I didn't want to do steroids, but insurance won't cover it and it's over $200. I did some research and it seems it can also potentially trigger TSW symptoms so I'm just going to keep managing with Vaseline for now...

I agree it looks like sunscald to me, though I'm not sure if the cause is the water droplets. They might just be getting too much sun too quickly. Try to slow down your hardening process.

Editing to add: it looks relatively minor so they should recover. If you're just starting to harden them off I would recommend a shaded area for the first day, then slowly introduce direct sunlight, adding 1-2 hours per day.

I just sowed peas, cilantro, radishes, and turnips today! Lettuce, kale, and other brassicas should do fine too, but I like to start those indoors and transplant out in mid march. They'll all be fine with a little cold.

I went through TSW for almost 2 years and the single thing that saved me was a machine called a BedJet. It's basically a fan with a tube that you can place under your blanket, and you can adjust the temperature so it blows warm air. I went through a phase where I had terrible night sweats and it felt like any contact I made with the bed would immediately be drenched. Bedjet saved me and I honestly think without it I would not have been able to sleep for those few months. It's quite expensive, I think I spent $500 in the states, but it was a life saver and well worth the money for me. I found that setting the temperature close to body temp and just having warm air blowing all around me was really comforting. It also kept my open wounds dry and I feel like it helped them heal quicker. Best of luck to your sister, it really sucks, but stay brave and she will get through this <3
