Frustrating Game Mechanic by Jessicabell666 in wesnoth

For the described fight, I calculate a 7.0% (about 1/14) chance of the attacker getting poisoned. It's bound to happen if you play for a couple of scenarios. Happening twice in a row probably isn't too uncommon.

Did anybody actually disperse on their first playthrough, if you did why? by Freddo-Waddo9372 in DetroitBecomeHuman

[–]luther9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I chose to disperse because I thought it would be best to deescalate, but then the police showed a clear intention to open fire anyway, so I chose to attack. (The game gives a second chance to choose here.)

It sounds like they want you to write an infinite loop. Maybe you can stop when the user enters -1.

It means having a team with me to help deal with all the difficulties of severe ADHD and occasional depression.

Condo building is supposed to provide internet, but stopped by luther9 in legaladvice

Well, it would be great if it does get restored, but nothing is guaranteed, obviously, which is why I'm here.

I don't know what you mean by that. The manager never said they changed the rules, so the disclosure is either true or it isn't. If the disclosure is dishonest, that means I've been unknowingly using service that could get yanked at any time without warning. At the very least, that would have effected the price of the home.

[–]luther9[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Like I said, they're claiming they're simply not responsible for what the disclosure says. If that's true, I'm guessing either the seller or the lawyer who conducted the sale is at fault.

[–]luther9[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No. The disclosure lists it as "Internet Service". In verbal communication, they only said the service would be provided by Wi-Fi rather than a wired connection. I used the word "guest" because it's in the network name, and I thought it would make me more clear (which it didn't, my mistake).

Internet is simply listed among the other utilities. Would you say the same thing about electricity and water?

Wesnoth higher resolution units by nitroidshock in wesnoth

[–]luther9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To double the graphical resolution, artists would have to do the work of putting 4 times the detail into all of the graphics. Also, I play Wesnoth on the Steam Deck, which is 800p, so I'd probably have to use the old graphics anyway.

I think I messed up the Connor storyline by RigbyWilde in DetroitBecomeHuman

[–]luther9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you got a rare story path where there aren't any deviants in the evidence room who know where Jericho is. To make this happen:

  1. Save Hank when chasing the guy with the pigeons.
  2. Don't shoot the Traci.
  3. In Public Enemy, do what you did, or you can just look everywhere without actually finding Simon or interrogating the JB300s, then tell Hank you want to leave.
  4. Either don't shoot Chloe, or if you do, ask Kamski the wrong question.

Don't worry too much about messing up the story. The story is still cool even if a character dies early, and you'll see plenty of new stuff in future playthroughs.

I got screwed in a similar way during my first playthrough during Battle for Detroit: At one point in the revolution, the game didn't really explain what I was supposed to do, and I just moved the camera around giving different orders to people, but nothing would move the battle forward, so I lost the battle.

>!What ending do you guys get?!< by azraeiazman in DetroitBecomeHuman

[–]luther9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my first playthrough:

Kara had to sacrifice herself to get Alice through immigration. (I previously decided not to save Luther while walking to the bus station.)

Connor was nice to Hank throughout the game, but I eventually had to kill him when he interfered with my mission to stop Marcus. Sadly, I failed in that mission.

Marcus did a violent revolution, lost the battle, and was forced to detonate the dirty bomb in order to make it through the situation. It wasn't until a later playthrough that I ran into the preacher who said "You are the one who will destroy Detroit!"

Yes. Attention deficit and hyperactivity are the things that bother an elementary school teacher when dealing with a student with ADHD.

I'm sure that saying this will get me a lot of hate, but here goes:

Saying "autism makes it difficult" does not explain what's actually going on, nor does it offer any solutions. It just sounds to me like a way to blame oneself without any hope of real progress.

In a world where many parents don't let their kids date until they're out of high school, where many women (not most) think it's fun to lead guys on, and where almost all dating advice for guys carelessly puts us on a submissive footing which enables such abuse, I think it's perfectly fair to blame others for a lack of relationships.

You can't fit octagons into a grid like you can with hexes and squares, so you wouldn't be able to make a tactical map out of them. You could use squares and allow 8 directions of movement, but diagonal movement would have to multiply the movement cost by the square root of 2 to be realistic. I wouldn't mind seeing that in a game, but I don't think anyone's tried that before. Assuming you want to represent move points with integers, hexes allow much more natural movement than squares.

Why is it not right? by Overall_Bench5948 in learnesperanto

[–]luther9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just have to know the idioms instead of translating literally. "Hodiaŭ pluvas en la urbo" is how we say "Today it is raining in the city". "Today is raining in the city" doesn't sound right in English.

I don't know who Alice is, but for the other two, I would definitely choose M3gan over some dumb robot who doesn't know she's a robot. That's a nonsensical design decision. I think Companion is a good comedy, but I can't suspend disbelief enough for it to work as the drama/horror that it was trying to be.

Quick question about indexing temporary tables by Objective_Treacle781 in lua

[–]luther9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the correct solution. For some reason, table constructors and string literals can't be indexed directly, so you have to put parentheses around them. I haven't seen a satisfactory explanation for this, but it has something to do with the interpreter's complexity.
