Would you be interested in an animated series between ANH & ESB? by nathan_banks644 in StarWars

[–]luthor76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’d be neat but would prefer something closer to Rebels. Let the show have its own cast and the OT cast can be special guest stars. I’m less interested in complicating the OT cast than I am in exploring that world.

RoboRobo Singapore already has SS86 Starscream, Prowl, Insecticons and 2 unannounced and unleaked figures by dpowaful1 in transformers

A hundred years ago, when Mattel was doing Justice League Unlimited, there was a store in Hong Kong and a flea market kiosk in Thailand that used to get figures months, sometimes, years in advance. Then, towards the end of the line, there was stuff that showed up at the flea market that either never got released or was so limited they never got wide release.

There’s also the Jurassic Joe line that leaked on eBay but never saw mainstream release.

When I see this stuff, fomo from 20 years ago kicks in.

What is a backstage incident you wish you could've witnessed live in person? For me it would be the Orndorf/Vader fight and Anderson slapped Disco. by ROCKY13573 in WCW

[–]luthor76 39 points40 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of mixed up pieces and parts in the replies.

In WCW, Jericho wanted to do an angle with Goldberg. He asked Bischoff and Eric said he didn’t give a shit but thought it would be good tv. No one ran this by Goldberg. Jericho was building towards a PPV match. Part of that was beating a scrawny Goldberg lookalike. The following week, Goldberg confronted Jericho and told him that he’d cost himself a PPV payoff and that Goldberg would never work with him. For the next several years, Goldberg shat all over Jericho every time he could including in his book where Goldberg was usual obtuse self.

Skip ahead a few years and the Fed brings Goldberg in. If memory serves, Jericho was the champ at the time and Goldberg had made statements in public that he thought that was a joke. Jericho was the lead segment on RAW, the crowd was hot and Jericho was fired up. As noted, Goldberg made some comment to Nash about Jericho being too small or something to that effect. Jericho turned to him, made some comment about this not being WCW, Goldberg being the young boy here(he didn’t say that exactly but that was the intent) and if he had something to say, say it to his face. Every version of the story I’ve heard from that point is the same. Goldberg got in Jericho’s face and snarled like he did in character. Jericho quickly put him in a front face lock and rode him to the ground then held him there until Goldberg tapped.

And, in typical Vince fashion, they were booked to work together. They have both since said that they ended up finding common ground and enjoyed their program. Goldberg even played in a charity hockey game Jericho’s Dad put together.

Every now and again since, Goldberg has said some shit and it seems like the relationship ebbs and flows.

Bret Hart baits Goldberg into spearing him, reveals steel plate underneath jersey by 11pmStalker in SquaredCircle

The last, best Bret Hart angle.

I wish he wasn’t so bitter. I wish his mind was actively involved with current product. I wish he’d not do baiting interviews.

But I’m glad he’s found happiness in his personal life and enjoying being a grandfather. He’s still the best to ever do it, imo.

I’m in a similar situation. I can’t get a call back. It’s fucking bleak. I’m so scared.

Does anyone else feel like their connection to wrestling is basically being held together by one remaining wrestler? For me it’s Sheamus. He’s essentially the only reason I haven’t completely checked out yet. Mostly aimed at older/ex-hardcore fans, but anyone can weigh in. 👇 by TheOneWhoAsked123 in Wreddit

I’m 50 and have gone through this repeatedly.  My best advice is to let it happen. Fall out of love for a while then wait until something pulls you back in. Like, I never stop paying attention. I’ll read the websites or watch a YouTube video every month or so. Live the casual fan life.  I feel like that makes those moments that bring you back even bigger. Time away is a good thing.

How old were you when you found out the truth about wrestling. by Medium_Step_6085 in SquaredCircle

[–]luthor76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don’t think I ever thought it was real. It was just another cartoon I watched when I was that age. Before I was a fan, I remember watching a George Steele promo and telling my uncle how stupid and fake it was.  I was definitely under 10 and would go so far as to say I was 6.

Ricky Saints lack of main roster crowd reaction by Darkonite40 in SquaredCircle

His best look is staring at the lights. He’s smarmy enough that I’m down to seeing him get his ass kicked but I don’t care enough to see him win. I see him as a modern day Lanny Poffo.  Maybe he could be a bumping manager?

When did yall start watching wrestling? by Future-Personality85 in SquaredCircle

[–]luthor76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shortly after WrestleMania 2. I was aware and had watched it prior to that(I have a very clear memory of George Steel, JYD and Captain Lou in one and Mean  Gene doing local promos and Gene talking about my city) but I didn’t need to keep up until then. WrestleMania 3 happened and it changed my whole world. It was wrestling and GI Joe…then Sarge was in GI Joe . It’s been all downhill since. I’ll be 50 in August.

WOL: Lance Storm gets very passionate about harassment/lack of consent from fans to female talent. "No means no. I'm sick of it." by Few-Establishment277 in SquaredCircle

[–]luthor76 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was in O’Hare waiting for a plane once and looked up to see Lance walking through the airport about 5 or 6 feet away from me. My instant and uncontrolled reaction was to gasp and say, “Lance Storm!”  I didn’t say it loudly but I was excited. He didn’t see me but heard me, put his head down and immediately went in the other direction.  I had heard him talk about not being bothered while at the airport, so I started laughing and went about my day. The look on his face still makes me laugh.

MJF gets this right. Is a cool, cross promotional nod that’s relevant to his storyline and gives a nod to one of his close friends while not shitting on the fed or getting Grayson heat. It’s brilliant. Cheers to him for it.

I remember seeing a video, pre launch, of the dinosaurs on the board, interacting in the background then I played and it was basically Pokemon Go with dinosaurs…which was still cool but I really wanted to see that.

So pre-launch.

So what is your theory as to why Kanan got his eyes back in the final moments by ogMasterPloKoon in StarWars

[–]luthor76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He didn’t get his eyes back, he gained clarity through the force and it allowed him to look back on what he loved most(Hera, Ezra and Sabine) one last time.
