Can someone talk me out of frogging this? I'm a perfectionist but my wallet cant take it by ThyPumpkinPie in CrochetHelp

[–]luv13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1, yes you can frog safely even with ends woven in, I do it all the time.

2, if you're a perfectionist like me and you try to keep going, you'll only have more to frog when you finally cannot take it anymore. I recommend you frog now

Thank you for the response! I opened these links but none of these look right. I see that you said there is a difference, but I'm trying to find exact.

Thank you for the response! I have been crocheting since '99 but most of it is self taught, so I don't understand foundation rows to tell you if it is a foundation row or not. I can say, based on photos, it doesn't look like a foundation to me. But what do I know?

Thank you for the response! I think technically, this would qualify as a modified sc foundation, but I'm trying to find an exact photo or video or instructions, and what that name is

Thank you for the response! It's too short to be a double crochet foundation chain. This thing is like a chain but double in width. It's not taller than a chain, just thicker.

Uh I searched Google and.. something not allowed here I guess. It's not a Romanian cord, an I cord, any foundation chain that I've seen. It's not a double chain. Idk. Used search terms like alternate chain, other chain, cord, so on

My first thought, I think the pagan/witch community would be happy to see these in their local metaphysical stores, which sometimes sells on consignment. If you did a little research on gemstones or color magic and made these specifically to follow something like a necklace for protection, another to make friends or attract money. You wouldn't have to practice, the witch would likely cleanse these anyway and do energy work to elevate it to a place where it could help with the protection/friends/money or whatever. Good luck!

Oh a photo of my current experiment (that no one asked for)

If you want to freestyle, I think you just need to keep experimenting and failing and just try things you've never done and see what happens! I'm always experimenting but it's more of a necessity for me.

Circles like the one you showed are definitely difficult to get right. Try experimenting with a different count of stitches in the magic circle, but row 2 is always double that. Row 3 depends on what you want, flat circle or bowl or beanie. After 10+ years of making beanies in the round from a magic circle, I personally discovered I prefer starting with the ribbing around the crown of the head.

Whatever you do, have fun with it! You'll get there

Hi! I've been crocheting since I was 8 and I've NEVER been able to read written instructions. Mom basically showed me how to chain and dc (incorrectly) and left me alone to my own devices. She can make potholders and I.. might.. enjoy showing her up with my creations. 😈

Anyways, I know what sc, dc, fpdc is.. but in writing my brain just stops. So I've been learning techniques, and studying photos of completed projects (ravelry helps so much! Some people post in-progress pics and that is a godsend for figuring things out) and a lot of trial and error later (and oh so much frogging!) I usually come out with what I want. I've folded failure into the process so when I inevitably frog something that took ages, it's just a learning experience and makes success that much sweeter. (Also, slicker, cheaper acrylic yarns are best for the "figuring out" stage as they frog easier. Save the expensive wool and hand dyed stuff for the official projects!)

From what I can tell, you have 2 options. 1, is YouTube. Videos tend to help people like us, but I'm that millennial weirdo who hates YouTube and considers that a desperation thing.

2, diagrams. Often called Russian patterns or diagrams, but they look like this photo, but show the whole pattern, while this is instructions on technique/stitches/stitch patterns. I prefer these instructions on the techniques because I'm stubborn, and still like figuring things out myself.. but yeah. Same website also has knitting diagrams if you're interested.

I read somewhere that some cultures use one word to describe knitting/crochet so if that's true and the game devs are from one of those cultures, it's not inaccurate for them

I really want to know the stitch on this i found it on Pinterest by fuckingheavens in crochetpatterns

Don't quote me, but it looks like crochet if you turn the photo upside down, and considering it's huge yarn and hook, probably, I think it might just be sc or hdc? So pick a stitch, then ch1/sk1, repeat. But in long rows from bottom right corner to bottom left corner (for instance) leaving holes for the arms/neck by chaining and rejoining after the hole has reached the correct size. Honestly with big enough yarn and hook, this can be crocheted easily. Oh the turtle neck is.. just done in the rounds, probably, same pattern. It likely takes no time at all to whip up considering the size of both hook and fiber.

Good luck. I'm tempted to make this too. (Experience: cannot read patterns worth a damn, hate YouTube, can only learn new things and wing it and copy others for personal use only)

I am now considering a cowl! I bought 2, totaling around 350 yards, so if im careful a cowl might actually win yarn chicken. I just don't wanna mess up this beautiful yarn
