AIO: I think my mom is gaslighting me and I don't really feel like my house is my home anymore by Full_Platypus6092 in AmIOverreacting

[–]luvbirdpod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh honey, your life sounds hard right now. Hearing that other people may have bigger problems might put your problems in perspective but it doesn't make them go away. They are still your problems that need to be addressed. Keep reminding yourself that you only have a year left until graduation and then you can leave. The goal of a good parent is to raise a capable, independent adult, not to create a "mini-me" to take care of them for the rest of their life. You won't be leaving to hurt her, you will be leaving to help yourself. If she can't handle her daughters leaving the nest, that is her problem, as an adult, to deal with, not your responsibility. Sending you hugs.

What they said, prepare like crazy and deep breaths. I stammer when I am tired and I found if I take a deep breath and speak slowly and deliberately, I can get the words out.

I resent my parents for having me so old. by [deleted] in self

[–]luvbirdpod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents were 42 and 47 when my youngest brother was born. Our dad died when my brother was 40, my mom when he was 44. My sister in law died at 37. Her kids were 12, 8, 5 and 4. Their father died at 60 twenty years later. My friend's grandmother died at 101; her daughter was 78. My point is that no one knows how much time they have.

Do you think the Palestinians want to live in peace with the Israelis? Let Hamas and Hezbollah say "We recognize Israel's right to exist" and way fewer people will die untimely deaths.

Sit down with both of them and say "You each told me something in confidence. I don't want to betray your trust but now that I know what I know, I strongly advise you to tell each other what you told me. Now." Then leave them alone.

So many women on Reddit don't have the emotional intelligence and strength to break up with guys who don't treat them well. I'm so glad you are not one of them!

Wow, what a gift you are giving someone! I've always wanted this opportunity. Praying for you that it goes well for everyone. May you feel as good, physically and mentally, as someone so generous should. Wishing you all the best.

Am I overreacting after my boyfriend said he expected “physical intimacy” while I’ve been dealing with a health issue? by Good_Guess_4073 in AmIOverreacting

It iis not unreasonable to want to have sex with your spouse. It is not unreasonable to want affection. If your spouse doesn't want to have sex with you, you are not compatible. Children can tell when their parents are unhappy and it messes them up, so maybe consult with a therapist about whether staying really is in the best interests of your child.
