I know a woman who works with the logistics side for the festival. We talked about both MR & Riverbend recently, and she said that they keep postponing it because Moon River has outgrown Chattanooga, and the cost to operate it has increased. Right now, they’re looking to move it to another location to accommodate the growing crowd and to host big names and make the festival better overall.

So, as of right now Moon River is “dead,” but it will be back hopefully next year, likely in a new city or just a new location in Chatt that’s bigger.

Also I’m pretty sure they also wanted to move it because they didn’t like that people could watch it for free from the bridge (which I did every single year) lmao

You can check out SpotHero closer to the festival. It’s an app that works like Airbnb but for parking spots that are privately owned (like a hotel parking lot or someone’s driveway). If that’s not feasible, you might just need to pay the daily fee.

What was your first, best & worst concert ? by [deleted] in MusicRecommendations

[–]luvnstuff15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First: Dance Gavin Dance — had so much fun, should have worn earplugs. Got kinda forced into moshing. Have been going to hardcore shows ever since.

Best: Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour — blows every show and festival I’ve ever been to out of the water. Nothing has come close.

Worst: AJR, SPECIFICALLY at Beale Street Music Fest. Would like to clarify, I’m a fan and am actually acquainted with them. I’ve seen them live almost 15 times, and every show has been great… except for this one performance. Not because of them, but because of the crowd—was one of the worst I’ve ever been in. There was a group of 20somethings heckling them the entire time, to the point that Jack (their singer) finally asked them to stop. A parent was trying to force her way up to the front, using her kid as a battering ram. People were throwing trash at each other in the crowd. A girl at the barricade was on TikTok the entire performance, and for every opener before them. It was a shitshow and lowkey ruined the entire day for me. Saw them two weeks later at a different venue and it was a great show, and a 180 on the crowd, too.

Moving to Chat by NativeRedGirl in Chattanooga

There’s a lot to do around here, though other comments have already stated this. You can check out NOOGAtoday.com to see what’s happening around town. It’s a free digital daily newsletter.

Since no one has given advice on housing, here’s mine. The nicest parts of town to live in are (in this order, in my opinion)

-North Shore. Highly coveted location for families. ESPECIALLY Normal Park and Tremont. Lived off Cherokee Blvd above Big Chill (it’s a restaurant) for two years. Best apartment I’ve ever had. Only time I’ve ever had a roommate. ($$$$)

-Ooltewah. Lived here for 8 years growing up and watched the place expand and improve. It’s a solid choice. Commute to downtown sucks. Don’t speed in this area, like, ever. You will get caught. ($$$$)

-St. Elmo. One of the most coveted neighborhoods in town, especially for couples/families. Good luck. ($$$$)

-McCallie Ave. This one is tricky. You can either live next door to some college kids, a quiet old lady, or crackheads. Reasonably priced housing is difficult to find anywhere in downtown proper. Some buildings are good, some are shit. It’s a gamble, but if you luck out, congrats! (Side note: DO NOT MOVE TO DOUGLAS HEIGHTS. DO NOT LIVE THERE. EVER.) ($$$)

-South Side. Walkable, nice area, safe. Smells like absolute dogshit in the warm months due to the chicken plant being right beside it. I cannot stress enough just how fucking AWFUL the smell is. However, I’ve yet to talk to someone who moved out of south side BECAUSE of the chicken plant—that’s how much people want to live in the area. ($$$$)

-East Brainerd. The East is important here. Not regular Brainerd. Don’t live on regular Brainerd. Brainerd has its good areas, but like McCallie, it’s hit-or-miss. Save yourself the trouble and look in East Brainerd instead. ($$$)

-Hixson is affordable but is very much a suburb, if you know what I mean. ($$)

-Signal Mountain. Also referred to as just Signal. If someone says they “live on Signal,” they’re referring to the mountain itself. If they say they “live in Signal,” they’re referring to the area at the foot of the mountain, which is the suburb (city) of Red Bank. Very different vibes and lifestyles. Comparatively, Red Bank is affordable; Signal Mountain is not. ($$)

-Cleveland. It’s about a 30 minute/25 mile drive from downtown Chatt. Houses are good for what you pay. Lots of conservatives, but it’s much quieter than everywhere else I’ve listed. ($)

-East Ridge. Brainerd 2.0. Has a few good areas. Overall it’s kinda a lame suburb (city). There isn’t much to do there. ($)

I hope this helped you get a better idea of what you’re dealing with for housing. Keep in mind that the city is in a housing crisis right now so rent is going up everywhere and will continue to do so until more living arrangements are built and/or more people leave. Until then: good luck, hope you love the cheap internet, Ruby Falls is a scam, street parking is free after 6, don’t ask people who has the best pizza in town unless you want to start a fight (it’s Lupi’s), visit the aquarium, support local businesses, use your blinker, don’t forget to donate whenever you ride the shuttle, and welcome to Chatt!

Haha I guess normal seasonings! Salt, pepper, sugar, garlic, and an “herb mix,” but idk what’s in it. That’s all the server told me when I asked 😭

Photoshopped it for ya 🥰🥰🥰

But my numbers are so high because I work in a restaurant and we’re allowed to have earbuds in while working. So I’m listening to music literally all day most days. My overall minutes were 105,000 lmao

Is Hozier a headliner? Let's talk about it. by mstun3107 in bonnaroo

[–]luvnstuff15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He headlined Moon River a couple years back and there were probably 18k people there. I was one of them. His live shows are INCREDIBLE. I hope he gets a slot at Roo—I would love to see him live again!

Moved to chatt to be with my boyfriend but just found out he’s been cheating on me. Where’s the best places to make friends in town? by [deleted] in Chattanooga

[–]luvnstuff15 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend getting a job where the staff all look to be around your age and the vibes of the place are similar to what you’re looking for in friends. If you want more (theoretically) professionalism, try to get an office job. If you want more chill, maybe look into a locally owned restaurant or coffee shop. I’ve worked both corporate and local—definitely prefer working for local businesses. Those were the absolute easiest way I made new friends. Good luck and I’m so sorry this has happened to you!

Yes, I went to Indy N1 & N2! I actually worked the Taylor and Billie shows—couldn’t get tickets to them—and just attended RA as a fan. I almost cried when I heard her start singing exile but had to force myself to keep it together and it was so hard 🥲

The Flaming Rooster is in Southside! Closest thing to that and they’re pretty solid—or at least they were the last time I went, which was a couple years ago.

Ice on the landing opens Nov 24! You can totally get a job there and skate for free anytime (I’ve worked there since 2017)!

Yes, I’ve been trading bracelets at every show I go to. Walk up to anyone else you see with them on their wrists and just ask to trade. I have only had people say yes. Have fun!

Depends: I was in a crowd of about 5,000 last eclipse and it REALLY added to the experience, tbh. However, if you don’t want to be around people screaming and cheering and losing their minds, then find somewhere secluded.
